Enterprise Master Data Management Trends and Solutions
The idea of master data and master data management (MDM) evolved from the increased necessities of enterprises for a more efficient and effective data management, requiring unification and integration of enterprise-wide data from multiple systems. In order to do that, many companies are considering MDM solutions, which automate data integration across various systems and applications. The paper aims to establish the correct position and role of the MDM in the enterprise IT (Information Technology) systems and to identify the main approaches, trends and solutions in the emergent area of enterprise MDM.data management, enterprise
Towards Certain Fixes with Editing Rules and Master Data
A variety of integrity constraints have been studied for data cleaning. While these constraints can detect the presence of errors, they fall short of guiding us to correct the errors. Indeed, data repairing based on these constraints may not find
certain fixes
that are absolutely correct, and worse, may introduce new errors when repairing the data. We propose a method for finding certain fixes, based on master data, a notion of
certain regions
, and a class of
editing rules
. A certain region is a set of attributes that are assured correct by the users. Given a certain region and master data, editing rules tell us what attributes to fix and how to update them. We show how the method can be used in data monitoring and enrichment. We develop techniques for reasoning about editing rules, to decide whether they lead to a unique fix and whether they are able to fix all the attributes in a tuple,
relative
to master data and a certain region. We also provide an algorithm to identify minimal certain regions, such that a certain fix is warranted by editing rules and master data as long as one of the regions is correct. We experimentally verify the effectiveness and scalability of the algorithm.

Master control data handling program uses automatic data input
General purpose digital computer program is applicable for use with analysis programs that require basic data and calculated parameters as input. It is designed to automate input data preparation for flight control computer programs, but it is general enough to permit application in other areas

Snapshot: Trial Types in Precision Medicine.
Integrating precision diagnostics into personalized treatments requires understanding how biomarkers relate to clinical outcomes. Various clinical data collection methods exist, each with strengths and weaknesses. Interventional data are high quality but narrowly focused. Real-world data (RWD) provide broader information but with variable quality. Master protocols allow better efficiency in data collection. The master observational trial bridges the gap between interventional and retrospective RWD collection methods. To view this SnapShot, open or download the PDF
Stochastic simulation of catalytic surface reactions in the fast diffusion limit
The master equation of a lattice gas reaction tracks the probability of visiting all spatial configurations. The large number of unique spatial configurations on a lattice renders master equation simulations infeasible for even small lattices. In this work, a reduced master equation is derived for the probability distribution of the coverages in the infinite diffusion limit. This derivation justifies the widely used assumption that the adlayer is in equilibrium for the current coverages and temperature when all reactants are highly mobile. Given the reduced master equation, two novel and efficient simulation methods of lattice gas reactions in the infinite diffusion limit are derived. The first method involves solving the reduced master equation directly for small lattices, which is intractable in configuration space. The second method involves reducing the master equation further in the large lattice limit to a set of differential equations that tracks only the species coverages. Solution of the reduced master equation and differential equations requires information that can be obtained through short, diffusion-only kinetic Monte Carlo simulation runs at each coverage. These simulations need to be run only once because the data can be stored and used for simulations with any set of kinetic parameters, gas-phase concentrations, and initial conditions. An idealized CO oxidation reaction mechanism with strong lateral interactions is used as an example system for demonstrating the reduced master equation and deterministic simulation techniques
Master-modes in 3D turbulent channel flow
Turbulent flow fields can be expanded into a series in a set of basic
functions. The terms of such series are often called modes. A master- (or
determining) mode set is a subset of these modes, the time history of which
uniquely determines the time history of the entire turbulent flow provided that
this flow is developed. In the present work the existence of the
master-mode-set is demonstrated numerically for turbulent channel flow. The
minimal size of a master-mode set and the rate of the process of the recovery
of the entire flow from the master-mode set history are estimated. The velocity
field corresponding to the minimal master-mode set is found to be a good
approximation for mean velocity in the entire flow field. Mean characteristics
involving velocity derivatives deviate in a very close vicinity to the wall,
while master-mode two-point correlations exhibit unrealistic oscillations. This
can be improved by using a larger than minimal master-mode set. The near-wall
streaks are found to be contained in the velocity field corresponding to the
minimal master-mode set, and the same is true at least for the large-scale part
of the longitudinal vorticity structure. A database containing the time history
of a master-mode set is demonstrated to be an efficient tool for investigating
rare events in turbulent flows. In particular, a travelling-wave-like object
was identified on the basis of the analysis of the database. Two
master-mode-set databases of the time history of a turbulent channel flow are
made available online at http://www.dnsdata.afm.ses.soton.ac.uk/. The services
provided include the facility for the code uploaded by a user to be run on the

Review on Master Patient Index
In today's health care establishments there is a great diversity of
information systems. Each with different specificities and capacities,
proprietary communication methods, and hardly allow scalability. This set of
characteristics hinders the interoperability of all these systems, in the
search for the good of the patient. It is vulgar that, when we look at all the
databases of each of these information systems, we come across different
registers that refer to the same person; records with insufficient data;
records with erroneous data due to errors or misunderstandings when inserting
patient data; and records with outdated data. These problems cause duplicity,
incoherence, discontinuation and dispersion in patient data. With the intention
of minimizing these problems that the concept of a Master Patient Index is
necessary. A Master Patient Index proposes a centralized repository, which
indexes all patient records of a given set of information systems. Which is
composed of a set of demographic data sufficient to unambiguously identify a
person and a list of identifiers that identify the various records that the
patient has in the repositories of each information system. This solution
allows for synchronization between all the actors, minimizing incoherence, out
datedness, lack of data, and a decrease in duplicate registrations. The Master
Patient Index is an asset to patients, the medical staff and health care
providers
