Rhetoric of independece: bicentennial Colombia 1810 - 2010
This paper develops a hypothesis of the economist Albert Hirschman in: The Rhetoric of Reaction, Perversity, Futility, Jeopardy (Harvard 1991) regarding the history of the Independence of Colombia. The Rhetoric of Independence extended the geographical worldview of the people of Spanish American. Finally, the paper develops a dispute with the explanations given by the conventional Colombian historiographyAlbert Hirschman; Colombia; Spanish American; Independence; political rhetoric; history; social sciences.
Heuristic Schelling: economy of organized crime
This article proposes a reading of the armed conflict from an evolutionary design that takes into account the concept of private protection agencies in the works of Schelling. Their aim is to assess the dynamics of conflict and changes from its author's scientific output. A context of conflicts that includes new expressions of violence and the relative failure of the paramilitary reintegration involves using new analytical models (argumentation, game theory and inconsistent information). The recent evolution of emerging gangs and their expansion into areas that were paramilitary camps requires monitoring not only of the government and the authorities, but those investigating the conflict in the present tense. The author provides heuristic research support from Schelling’s theory of strategy, recent contributions to the relationship between organized crime and drug cartels.Colombia, Government, Civil War, Latin America, Security, Protection Agencies.

Asymmetric information in the civil wars, the Colombian case
The aim of this paper is to interpret the relationships between information networks and the armed conflict in Colombia. Over a period of paramilitary violence networks of informants were used with a strategic purpose. In fact, the paramilitaries were preparing each slaughter counting information previously learned between the inhabitants of the town. For these reasons, it is shown that information is a key phenomenon to understand civil wars. Moreover, as demonstrated in this work is the evolution of the slaughter in the civil wars as a result of rumor and information.Colombia, civil wars, massacres, paramilitary, information and rumors, communication

Agent-based simulation of the learning dissemination on a Project-Based Learning context considering the human aspects
This work presents an agent-based simulation (ABS) of the active learning
process in an Electrical Engineering course. In order to generate input data to
the simulation, an active learning methodology developed especially for
part-time degree courses, called Project-Based Learning Agile (PBLA), has been
proposed and implemented at the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB), Brazil.
Through the analysis of survey responses obtained over five consecutive
semesters, using partial least squares path modeling (PLS-PM), it was possible
to generate data parameters to use as an input in a hybrid kind of agent-based
simulation known as PLS agent. The simulation of the scenario suggests that the
learning occur faster when the student has higher levels of humanist's aspects
as self-esteem, self-realization and cooperation.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, minor correction
