Connection Between System Parameters and Localization Probability in Network of Randomly Distributed Nodes
This article deals with localization probability in a network of randomly
distributed communication nodes contained in a bounded domain. A fraction of
the nodes denoted as L-nodes are assumed to have localization information while
the rest of the nodes denoted as NL nodes do not. The basic model assumes each
node has a certain radio coverage within which it can make relative distance
measurements. We model both the case radio coverage is fixed and the case radio
coverage is determined by signal strength measurements in a Log-Normal
Shadowing environment. We apply the probabilistic method to determine the
probability of NL-node localization as a function of the coverage area to
domain area ratio and the density of L-nodes. We establish analytical
expressions for this probability and the transition thresholds with respect to
key parameters whereby marked change in the probability behavior is observed.

AMCTD: Adaptive Mobility of Courier nodes in Threshold-optimized DBR Protocol for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks
In dense underwater sensor networks (UWSN), the major confronts are high
error probability, incessant variation in topology of sensor nodes, and much
energy consumption for data transmission. However, there are some remarkable
applications of UWSN such as management of seabed and oil reservoirs,
exploration of deep sea situation and prevention of aqueous disasters. In order
to accomplish these applications, ignorance of the limitations of acoustic
communications such as high delay and low bandwidth is not feasible. In this
paper, we propose Adaptive mobility of Courier nodes in Threshold-optimized
Depth-based routing (AMCTD), exploring the proficient amendments in depth
threshold and implementing the optimal weight function to achieve longer
network lifetime. We segregate our scheme in 3 major phases of weight updating,
depth threshold variation and adaptive mobility of courier nodes. During data
forwarding, we provide the framework for alterations in threshold to cope with
the sparse condition of network. We ultimately perform detailed simulations to
scrutinize the performance of our proposed scheme and its comparison with other
two notable routing protocols in term of network lifetime and other essential
parameters. The simulations results verify that our scheme performs better than

Graphical model-based approaches to target tracking in sensor networks: an overview of some recent work and challenges
Sensor Networks have provided a technology base for distributed target tracking applications among others. Conventional centralized approaches to the problem lack scalability in such a scenario where a large number of sensors provide measurements simultaneously under a possibly non-collaborating environment. Therefore research efforts have focused on scalable, robust, and distributed algorithms for the inference tasks related to target tracking, i.e. localization, data association, and track maintenance. Graphical models provide a rigorous tool for development of such algorithms by modeling the information structure of a given task and providing distributed solutions through message passing algorithms. However, the limited communication capabilities and energy resources of sensor networks pose the additional difculty of considering the tradeoff between the communication cost and the accuracy of the result. Also the network structure and the information structure are different aspects of the problem and a mapping between the physical entities and the information structure is needed. In this paper we discuss available formalisms based on graphical models for target tracking in sensor networks with a focus on the aforementioned issues. We point out additional constraints that must be asserted in order to achieve further insight and more effective solutions
Collaborative Storage Management In Sensor Networks
In this paper, we consider a class of sensor networks where the data is not
required in real-time by an observer; for example, a sensor network monitoring
a scientific phenomenon for later play back and analysis. In such networks, the
data must be stored in the network. Thus, in addition to battery power, storage
is a primary resource: the useful lifetime of the network is constrained by its
ability to store the generated data samples. We explore the use of
collaborative storage technique to efficiently manage data in storage
constrained sensor networks. The proposed collaborative storage technique takes
advantage of spatial correlation among the data collected by nearby sensors to
significantly reduce the size of the data near the data sources. We show that
the proposed approach provides significant savings in the size of the stored
data vs. local buffering, allowing the network to run for a longer time without
running out of storage space and reducing the amount of data that will
eventually be relayed to the observer. In addition, collaborative storage
performs load balancing of the available storage space if data generation rates
are not uniform across sensors (as would be the case in an event driven sensor
