The subject matter of this manuscript is the separation and actualization of the thematic areas of the holy books, the Bible and the Quran, in which the human-nature relationship is elaborated, indicated or specified. The emphasis is on the moral teachings contained in the holy books, the Bible and the Quran, which, refer to the human–nature relationship and their influence on the development of ecological awareness in that context, are supported by or grounded in the holy books. The empirical research point to the conclusion is that religion is an important source or basis of morality, and it determines the attitude of humans to nature. In that sense, religious collectivities/communities can and should be much more involved in issues related to environmental protection

In the interpretation of the verses of the Qur\u27an, gender has undergone considerable and dynamic developments. Online courses are the fastest growing student enrollment at the university level during the last decade. Between the time period 2003-2009, the number of students who had taken online courses doubled to 3.9 million which outpaced the growth in traditional college settings by a 12% margin (Mashable/Tech,2010). However, this online programming movement still remains in its early stages of development. Thus, faculty members and designers of online education need to know more about online courses. Momin (2003) stated that this growth, in online education, has been accompanied by increased questions about the effectiveness of online courses. More research needs to be conducted regarding how student experiences differ in online course environments and how outcomes are developed and measured. Specifically, faculty members and administrators need to understand how students perceive online education and courses because these perceptions and attitudes can be a direct link to student motivation and learning. Verses of Praise and Denigration: Finding Poetic Creativity in the Tibetan Election in Exile

Between October 2015 and March 2016, over ninety-thousand Tibetans in exile prepared to elect either Lobsang Sangay or Penpa Tsering as the new political leader of the Tibetan government in exile. In a negative campaign style, which was unprecedented in the history of the Tibetan democracy in exile, the two candidates were pitted against each other. Many Tibetans now reminisce with some remorse about how this election campaign stirred up tensions and animosity in the exile community. The campaign offered a germane platform to many Tibetan poets all over the world to express their opinions about their potential future leaders in the Tibetan language. One forum where they disseminated their poems about the two candidates was an exile-based Tibetan-language website devoted to poetry, news, essays, and songs. In this piece, I offer an English translation of four of these poems and discuss the issues and themes that concerned the poets as well as the Tibetan electorate

Principles for Starting a Song-Writing Ministry

With the approval of Dr. Keith Currie and Dr. David Schmal, I have chosen to complete the Music & Worship Ministry Project as the Final Thesis for the Masters of Art in Music and Worship. The objective of the project is to produce an Extended Play Record (EP) that contains five original worship songs written specifically for this EP. The components of this project include: songwriting, arranging, performing, recording, and producing. This project will achieve two purposes: first, the songs in this EP are meant to be sung in my local church – Koinonia Evangelical Church (KEC); second, this project is the medium through which I complete my research on building a songwriting ministry in KEC. It answers the question: what are some foundational philosophies to starting a local church songwriting ministry? Manual Annotation of Translational Equivalence: The Blinker Project

Bilingual annotators were paid to link roughly sixteen thousand corresponding words between on-line versions of the Bible in modern French and modern English. These annotations are freely available to the research community from http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~melamed . The annotations can be used for several purposes. First, they can be used as a standard data set for developing and testing translation lexicons and statistical translation models. Second, researchers in lexical semantics will be able to mine the annotations for insights about cross-linguistic lexicalization patterns. Third, the annotations can be used in research into certain recently proposed methods for monolingual word-sense disambiguation. This paper describes the annotated texts, the specially-designed annotation tool, and the strategies employed to increase the consistency of the annotations. The annotation process was repeated five times by different annotators. Inter-annotator agreement rates indicate that the annotations are reasonably reliable and that the method is easy to replicate

A case study of the philosophies, policies and practices of educational management at the Church College of New Zealand : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Education at Massey University

This thesis explores the Educational Management practices at the Church College of New Zealand (CCNZ) in Hamilton. It has examined, analysed and presented answers to the research question which is: How effective is the LDS Church College in following both the philosophies and policies of the LDS Church Board of Education and those of the Ministry of Education in New Zealand?. This college belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a church that is also known as the LDS Church. The research was done through a case study approach because of the need to use a mixture of methods. Some of these methods are personal observation, use of current and historical data, semi-structured interviews, study of relevant records and documents at the Church College, the New Zealand Government through the Educational Review Office (ERO) and from private sources. The thesis initially looks at the Educational Management in general before it examines how management principles are applied at this Church College. I have arranged the various management positions at Church College into three groups. The first group is the Top Management that includes two people, the New Zealand Country Director and the Church College Principal. The second group is the Middle Management consisting of the Deputy Principal, the Assistant Principal, the Director of Finance and the Physical Facilities Director. The third group is the First Line Management that includes the Deans, the Heads of various Academic Departments, two Supervisors at the Physical Facilities Department, the Head Boy & Head Girl and finally, the Dorm Parents. Through interviews, I have examined their areas of responsibility and how they are fulfilling their management roles. While exploring the Church College historical background, I discovered that a number of LDS Church schools were built and operated in New Zealand before the existence of CCNZ. The LDS Church built these earlier schools because of the lack of educational facilities in New Zealand at the time. These schools were eventually closed down when the number of state schools increased to the point where the LDS Church schools were considered by the church leaders to be unnecessary. However, a few years later, the Church Mission President in New Zealand at the time persuaded the church leaders in Salt Lake City to approve the building of another school to be used to educate future church leaders in New Zealand. This was the beginning of the existence of the Church College of New Zealand in Hamilton. This thesis has analysed and produced evidence that the Church College is meeting the initial objectives of educating future church leaders in New Zealand. First, the school is producing the biggest number of full-time missionaries in the country when compared to the numbers from other church units in New Zealand. Second, many of the LDS Church leaders in New Zealand today were educated at Church College. Third, the Maori and Pacific Islands students' exam pass-rates at Church College are much higher than the national figures. The Church College is succeeding in educating their students both spiritually and academically. The balance between these two is creating good leaders in the church and in the society. The 1997 ERO Assurance Audit Report clearly states that the college is meeting its obligation to the Ministry of Education in New Zealand. It is also fulfilling the expectations of the LDS Church Board of Education by teaching religious education on campus. The Church College is successful in educating Maori and Pacific Island students. The exam pass rates for Maori and Pacific Island students are higher at Church College than the national figures. Finally, the management and administration of Church College is of high quality and that they are very effective and efficient in following both the philosophies and policies of the LDS Church Board of Education and those of the Ministry of Education in New Zealand. This conclusion was confirmed by most of the research participants as well as documents from the Educational Review Office
