Investigation of work function and chemical composition of thin films of borides and nitrides
Thin films of various borides, nitrides, and barium fluorides were tentatively deposited by pulsed laser deposition and by magnetron sputtering in order to develop the components of thermionic-photovoltaic devices for the high-temperature thermal to electrical conversion by solid state. To improve the device performance, the materials characterized by a low work function were selected. In the present work, the chemical composition and work function of obtained films were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. The values of work function were determined from the cut-off in the He I valence band spectra. Different films were compared and estimated on the basis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy results

Relaxing the Irrevocability Requirement for Online Graph Algorithms
Online graph problems are considered in models where the irrevocability
requirement is relaxed. Motivated by practical examples where, for example,
there is a cost associated with building a facility and no extra cost
associated with doing it later, we consider the Late Accept model, where a
request can be accepted at a later point, but any acceptance is irrevocable.
Similarly, we also consider a Late Reject model, where an accepted request can
later be rejected, but any rejection is irrevocable (this is sometimes called
preemption). Finally, we consider the Late Accept/Reject model, where late
accepts and rejects are both allowed, but any late reject is irrevocable. For
Independent Set, the Late Accept/Reject model is necessary to obtain a constant
competitive ratio, but for Vertex Cover the Late Accept model is sufficient and
for Minimum Spanning Forest the Late Reject model is sufficient. The Matching
problem has a competitive ratio of 2, but in the Late Accept/Reject model, its
competitive ratio is 3/2
Keratinocyte differentiation-dependent human papillomavirus gene regulation
Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) cause diseases ranging from benign warts to invasive cancers. HPVs infect epithelial cells and their replication cycle is tightly linked with the differentiation process of the infected keratinocyte. The normal replication cycle involves an early and a late phase. The early phase encompasses viral entry and initial genome replication, stimulation of cell division and inhibition of apoptosis in the infected cell. Late events in the HPV life cycle include viral genome amplification, virion formation, and release into the environment from the surface of the epithelium. The main proteins required at the late stage of infection for viral genome amplification include E1, E2, E4 and E5. The late proteins L1 and L2 are structural proteins that form the viral capsid. Regulation of these late events involves both cellular and viral proteins. The late viral mRNAs are expressed from a specific late promoter but final late mRNA levels in the infected cell are controlled by splicing, polyadenylation, nuclear export and RNA stability. Viral late protein expression is also controlled at the level of translation. This review will discuss current knowledge of how HPV late gene expression is regulated
Late-time evolution of the Yang-Mills field in the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse
We investigate the late-time evolution of the Yang-Mills field in the
self-gravitating backgrounds: Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstr\"om
spacetimes. The late-time power-law tails develop in the three asymptotic
regions: the future timelike infinity, the future null infinity and the black
hole horizon. In these two backgrounds, however, the late-time evolution has
quantitative and qualitative differences. In the Schwarzschild black hole
background, the late-time tails of the Yang-Mills field are the same as those
of the neutral massless scalar field with multipole moment l=1. The late-time
evolution is dominated by the spacetime curvature. When the background is the
Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole, the late-time tails have not only a smaller
power-law exponent, but also an oscillatory factor. The late-time evolution is
dominated by the self-interacting term of the Yang-Mills field. The cause
