    Symmetric interpolatory dual wavelet frames

    For any symmetry group HH and any appropriate matrix dilation we give an explicit method for the construction of HH-symmetric refinable interpolatory refinable masks which satisfy sum rule of arbitrary order nn. For each such mask we give an explicit technique for the construction of dual wavelet frames such that the corresponding wavelet masks are mutually symmetric and have the vanishing moments up to the order n. For an abelian symmetry group HH we modify the technique such that each constructed wavelet mask is HH-symmetric.Comment: 22 page

    AbstractIn this paper we introduce an algorithm for the construction of interpolating scaling vectors on Rd with compact support and orthonormal integer translates. Our method is substantiated by constructing several examples of bivariate scaling vectors for quincunx and box–spline dilation matrices. As the main ingredients of our recipe we derive some implementable conditions for accuracy and orthonormality of an interpolating scaling vector in terms of its mask

    AbstractIn this extension of earlier work, we point out several ways how a multiresolution analysis can be derived from a finitely supported interpolatory matrix mask which has a positive definite symbol on the unit circle except at −1. A major tool in this investigation will be subdivision schemes that are obtained by using convolution or correlation operations based on replacing the usual matrix multiplications by Kronecker products

    On the exact evaluation of integrals of wavelets

    Wavelet expansions are a powerful tool for constructing adaptive approximations. For this reason, they find applications in a variety of fields, from signal processing to approximation theory. Wavelets are usually derived from refinable functions, which are the solution of a recursive functional equation called the refinement equation. The analytical expression of refinable functions is known in only a few cases, so if we need to evaluate refinable functions we can make use only of the refinement equation. This is also true for the evaluation of their derivatives and integrals. In this paper, we detail a procedure for computing integrals of wavelet products exactly, up to machine precision. The efficient and accurate evaluation of these integrals is particularly required for the computation of the connection coefficients in the wavelet Galerkin method. We show the effectiveness of the procedure by evaluating the integrals of pseudo-splines

    A New Family of PR Two Channel Filter Banks

    A new family of multidimensional dimensional (MD) perfect reconstruction (PR) two channel filter banks with finite impulse response (FIR) filters induced from systems of biorthogonal MD scaling functions and wavelets are introduced. One of the advantages of this construction is that the biorthogonal scaling functions and wavelets are easy to establish due to the interpolatory property of the scaling functions to start with. The other advantage is that all filters can be centrosymmetric or bi-linear phase. Examples of two dimensional (2D) bi-linear phase PR twochannel FIR filter banks will be demonstrated
