City Internships runs immersive career training programs for college students and recent graduates. They’re designed to expand participants’ horizons and get them job-ready. For each program, on top of hard and soft skill building at weekly career seminars, workshops and networking events, participants undertake an internship placement at one of our partner companies. Students and graduates develop real-world skills, build their professional network and fast-track their career
Practical Training and the Audit Expectations Gap:The Case of Accounting Undergraduates of Universiti Utara Malaysia
The accounting profession has long faced the issue of an audit expectations gap; being the gap
between the quality of the profession’s performance, its objectives and results, and that which the
society expects. The profession believes that the gap could be reduced over time through
education. Studies have been carried out overseas and in Malaysia to determine the effect of
education in narrowing the audit expectations gap. Extending the knowledge acquired, this paper
investigates whether academic internship programs could reduce the audit expectations gap in
Malaysia. Using a pre-post method, the research instrument adapted from Ferguson et al. (2000)
is administered to the Universiti Utara Malaysia’s accounting students at the beginning and end
of their internship program. The results show there is a significant change in perceptions among
students after the internship program. However, changes in perceptions do not warrant an
internship program as a means of reducing the audit expectations gap as misperceptions are still
found among respondents on issues of auditing after the completion of the internship program.
Nevertheless, an internship program can still be used to complement audit education in a
university as it is an ideal way to expose students to professional issues and enables them to have
a better insight of the actual performance and duties of auditors

Internship: Equity Resources, Inc.
STEP Category: InternshipsThis presentation details my transformational project with STEP under the 'Internship' category. The summer of 2019 I had the opportunity to intern at Equity Resources, Inc., an esteemed Ohio mortgage firm. I worked in the Closing Department on a variety of tasks with my main responsibility completing Verbal Verifications of Employment. I also had the opportunity to manage my own pipeline of work in which I updated and validated important realtor information to ensure future business for the company. Each week I participated in a professional development seminar given by a leading executive in the company on topics to improve professionally, personally, and prepare for future career endeavors. Preparing Youth for College and Career: A Process Evaluation of Urban Alliance
Urban Alliance, headquartered in Washington, DC, serves at-risk youth through its high school internship program, which provides training, mentoring, and work experience to high school seniors from distressed communities in Washington, DC; Baltimore; Northern Virginia; and Chicago. The program serves youth before they become disconnected, helping them successfully transition to higher education or employment after graduation. Urban Alliance has commissioned the Urban Institute to conduct a six-year, randomized controlled trial impact and process evaluation of its high school internship program. This report provides a process analysis of the program; the analysis is informed by extensive evaluator observation and interviews with staff, stakeholders, and youth. It also presents baseline information about Urban Alliance and the youth participating in its high school internship program in Washington, DC, and Baltimore in the 2011–12 and 2012–13 program years. Subsequent reports as part of the impact study will describe the early-adulthood impacts of the Urban Alliance internship program on the youth it serves. Below is a summary of the findings in this first of three reports

What are the Best Practices in Overall Intern Experience among Highly Desirable Internship Programs?
[Excerpt] Most companies hire college summer interns for one of two reasons: to build their talent pipeline of future full-time hires and “test drive” potential employees, or as a way to increase their short-term workforce in order to complete a project.1 Both are legitimate business practices and, while some companies choose to hire interns for one reason or the other, the best internship programs are the ones where those purposes intersect. If the goal is to convert interns into permanent employees, it is of critical importance to provide students an experience that exposes them to new and challenging work. In fact, the top three reasons that students listed for pursuing an internship were to gain real world experience, build their resume, and learn new skills.
While it may seem simple to meet those criteria, companies that have exceptional internship programs dedicate considerable resources and planning to achieve their level of success. This paper will highlight a selection of practices that leading internship programs employ, divided into two categories – Structure and Perks
Throwing Light on Life at The Wayside
Over the course of these past ten weeks, I have come a long way since I started my internship at the beginning of June at Minute Man National Historical Park. This is my second Brian C. Pohanka Internship; last summer, I lived and worked at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. In Harpers Ferry, I was given a lot of responsibility while working for the education department, but at Minute Man, my responsibilities far exceeded just working with children.
