Probe interface design consideration
Interface design between a probe and a spacecraft requires not only technical considerations but also management planning and mission analysis interactions. Two further aspects of importance are the flyby versus the probe trade-off, and the relay link design and data handling optimization
Verbosity and Interface Design
Users pose very short queries to information retrieval systems. This study shows that the apparent length of the query field has an effect on the length of the query users enter
Design Interface Between Security System Sensor Infra Red Room with Pc-based
At this writing discusses the interface design of safety systems use a room with a PC- based infrared sensors. The design of this interface is made in order to read data from outside the computer and translates the data, so data were initially still shaped analog data with a logic high (1) and low (0). The sensors used to detect the state of the room, if there is an entrance to the room. Such circumstances it is done continuously with rocks control program that monitors and instantly displays the state of the motor drive if you get the data from the sensors. With this design, is expected to facilitate or as a means of support to enhance system security. Use of this design was made in order to detect the condition in some rooms as well as making it easier for the security unit to anticipate and take priority
Mediating Cognitive Transformation with VR 3D Sketching during Conceptual Architectural Design Process
Communications for information synchronization during the conceptual design phase require designers to employ more intuitive digital design tools. This paper presents findings of a feasibility study for using VR 3D sketching interface in order to replace current non-intuitive CAD tools. We used a sequential mixed method research methodology including a qualitative case study and a cognitive-based quantitative protocol analysis experiment. Foremost, the case study research was conducted in order to understand how novice designers make intuitive decisions. The case study documented the failure of conventional sketching methods in articulating complicated design ideas and shortcomings of current CAD tools in intuitive ideation. The case study’s findings then became the theoretical foundations for testing the feasibility of using VR 3D sketching interface during design. The latter phase of study evaluated the designers’ spatial cognition and collaboration at six different levels: “physical-actions”, “perceptualac ons”, “functional-actions”, “conceptual-actions”, “cognitive synchronizations”, and “gestures”. The results and confirmed hypotheses showed that the utilized tangible 3D sketching interface improved novice designers’ cognitive and collaborative design activities. In summary this paper presents the influences of current external representation tools on designers’ cognition and collaboration as well as providing the necessary theoretical foundations for implementing VR 3D sketching interface. It contributes towards transforming conceptual architectural design phase from analogue to digital by proposing a new VR design interface. The paper proposes this transformation to fill in the existing gap between analogue conceptual architectural design process and remaining digital engineering parts of building design process hence expediting digital design process
An Introduction to 3D User Interface Design
3D user interface design is a critical component of any virtual environment (VE) application. In this paper, we present a broad overview of three-dimensional (3D) interaction and user interfaces. We discuss the effect of common VE hardware devices on user interaction, as well as interaction techniques for generic 3D tasks and the use of traditional two-dimensional interaction styles in 3D environments. We divide most user interaction tasks into three categories: navigation, selection/manipulation, and system control. Throughout the paper, our focus is on presenting not only the available techniques, but also practical guidelines for 3D interaction design and widely held myths. Finally, we briefly discuss two approaches to 3D interaction design, and some example applications with complex 3D interaction requirements. We also present an annotated online bibliography as a reference companion to this article
Control of virtual environments for young people with learning difficulties
Purpose: The objective of this research is to identify the requirements for the selection or development of usable virtual environment (VE) interface devices for young people with learning disabilities. Method: a user-centred design methodology was employed, to produce a design specification for usable VE interface devices. Details of the users' cognitive, physical and perceptual abilities were obtained through observation and normative assessment tests. Conclusions : A review of computer interface technology, including virtual reality and assistive devices, was conducted. As there were no devices identified that met all the requirements of the design specification, it was concluded that there is a need for the design and development of new concepts. Future research will involve concept and prototype development and user-based evaluation of the prototypes
PERANCANGAN DESIGN SYSTEM PADA WEBSITE TRAVEL MOBIL DENGAN METODE ATOMIC DESIGN
Car rental provides daily or contract car rental services with driver or keyless options. This can be a solution for students in Malang who do not have a personal vehicle, useful for vacations, homecoming, or trips to the airport. The growth of this information system influences an enhanced consumer experience, prioritizing service quality. To differentiate themselves from competitors, companies must have a strong identity. However, designers often struggle in designing interfaces due to the time required and lack of consistency in website interface design. Consistency in user interface is essential to make it easier for users to understand digital products and prevent bad experiences. Therefore, design standardization is a solution and guideline to make designers design a user interface that is consistent with the company's identity. This research uses the Atomic Design method which emphasizes the hierarchical arrangement of design components from atoms to pages, as well as focusing on creating reusable components and UI display levels. The results of the research using the atomic design method conducted by three designers showed the effectiveness of task completion reached 82% and overall time efficiency of 85% with the use of Design System. This indicates that Design System increases the productivity of user interface designers and reduces design time significantly
Interface Design for Control Using Computer Stoplight
Programs of a general nature only, such as: Word, Exel and the lainya.sebenarnya computercan be used widely as a controller or an external regulator, such as traffic light controllers, temperature measurement and the other.Computers communicate with the "outside world" must first pass through the interfacemeans (interface). Interface is a tool to bridge between the computer and the outside world. Inorder for an interface is not a problem inside the computer it is necessary to place a specifiedaddress into the computer interface. The interface is often used in the design is a Programmable Peripheral Interface IC 8255 (PPI8255), because price is cheap and easy to use. Interface inside the computer can not runwithout the software. Software at the traffic light controller is used to mengendlikan trafficlights to match the desired light conditions. So, with that traffic lights may reduce congestionon the roads at junction terutuama
