Uncertainty and Enterprise Integration - A Real Options View
Enterprise integration (EI) involves integrating business processes and data across organizations, systems, and applications and is a key spending priority for CIOs according to the consulting firm Gartner. Enterprise integration however represents an investment scenario fraught with a good deal of uncertainty on account of rapidly changing markets, technologies, and standards. EI represents a rich and dynamic market with ever-shifting boundaries, complex XML-based technology stacks, and a proliferation of standards. Complex and uncertain investment scenarios are best approached from the increasingly important real options (RO) valuation methodology. This paper develops a taxonomy of use cases of enterprise integration, assesses the uncertainty inherent in these use cases, and then develops decision-making heuristics based on the RO notion of Strategic Net Present Value (SNPV) for approaching investment decisions in EI
Enabling Semantic Interoperability in e-Government: A System-based Methodological Framework for XML Schema Management at National Level
Articulating semantic interoperability in e-Government remains in question as long as the international standardization efforts do not reach a consensus on how to semantically annotate and exchange data, but merely focus on the syntactic aspects by publishing sets of XML Schemas. As one-stop governmental services at national and cross-county level become an imperative, the need for standardized data definitions, codification of existing unstructured information and a framework for managing governmental data in a unified way emerges. Effectively applied to the Greek e-Government National Interoperability Framework, this paper proposes a methodology for designing semantically enriched XML Schemas with which homogenized governmental information complies, based on the UN/CEFACT Core Components Technical Specification (CCTS). A discussion around a prospective architecture for managing large sets of XML Schemas is also motivated in order to recognize the necessary components and the key issues that need to be tackled when designing a Governmental Schema Registry
Usage of XML in Enterprises
katedra: KIN; pĹ™Ălohy: 1 CD ROM; rozsah: 71 s.The goal of this thesis is to offer a list of possible applications of the XML language and focus on practical aspects of usage of XML in enterprises, to show possibilities of using XML in enterprises and to demonstrate suitable and unsuitable ways of working with XML. Thesis is offering an answer to the question what form of XML documents to choose and how are individual solutions suitable for usage on database system Microsoft SQL Server 2008. The structure of thesis is following: offering an introduction to the XML, introducing applications of XML and their practical utilization, description of possibilities related to XML and offered by Microsoft Office 2007 and detailed description of effectives of data operations with XML files.CĂlem tĂ©to práce je nabĂdnout pĹ™ehled moĹľnostĂ aplikacĂ jazyka XML a zaměřit se na praktickĂ© aspekty vyuĹľitĂ jazyka XML v podnikovĂ© praxi, ukázat moĹľnosti vyuĹľitĂ XML v podnikovĂ© praxi a demonstrovat vhodnĂ© a nevhodnĂ© zpĹŻsoby nakládánĂ s XML.
