    Creating E-Business Value And Firm Performance From Supply Chain Perspective

    After e-commerce (electronic commerce) bubbled in the new millennium, the trend of information technology thus moved forward e-business (electronic business) manifestly. This is because e-business integrated and valued greater than e-commerce both in the physical and virtual networks. Also, it apparently shows that businesses are planning to achieve digitally tightened integration with suppliers, customers, and employees from the development of information technology in recent years. It means that e-business technologies are widely used by businesses. However, not all businesses are successfully using e-business technologies. Some of them face the failure of e-business technologies use to yield satisfactory value and firm performance due to the much more important lack of significant knowledge or capability to use e-business technologies. Therefore, such researches of e-business have been paid much attention by academia and practitioners. This study would initially investigate the relevant references of e-business technologies use and IT integration capability in order to identify the involved relationships. Furthermore, intrafirm integration and interfirm integration are regarded as two significant mediators and then try to verify the influence of above-mentioned variables on e-business value and firm performance so as to propose the research model. The results and findings in this study support the hypotheses we presented in the light of 248 respondents gathered from Taiwan top 1000 enterprises. Expect that there is a guideline to follow and the research model would contribute to enhance the success of e-business value and firm performance for businesses as using e-business technologies. Moreover, the results and findings of this study could be as the reference for academia and practitioners as conducting related researches

    The Effect of Electronic Commerce in Business Value and Supply Chain Process: Evidence from Iran

    This paper aims to develop and test a model to analyze the relationships between three aspects of technical electronic commerce (EC)-based information system (IS) resources and, the supply chain process integration, and business value. The paper is consistent with the perspective on IS-enabled organizational capabilities and resource based view of the firm. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted to collect data from 204 supply chain, logistics, or procurement/ purchasing managers of manufacturing firms. Findings show that supply chain process integration, a key EC-enabled organizational capability, can enhance business value. Additionally, the capability serve as a catalyst in transforming technical EC-based IS resources (technical quality of EC applications, EC advancements, EC alignment and E-branding) into higher value for a firm. Our results suggest that supply chain process integration is an important intermediate organizational capability through which value of EC-based IS resources can be materialized. However, the technical aspects of EC-based IS resources needs to developed to effectively form supply chain capabilities.Key words: Supply chain integration; Business value; Electronic commerce; Business performance; Resource-based view; Information system; E-brandin

    Emergent Forms of IT Governance to Support Global eBusiness Models

    A critical aspect of global e-business information technology (IT) governance is ensuring that it is integrated and that it generates economic viability of a company. Poorly thought through purposes will result in poor IT governance, the aim is to improve IT governance and business efficiency and effectiveness. A normative framework for global e-business IT governance is developed in this paper drawing on research evidence from information systems development and organization study. It proposes fundamental re-directions in global e-business IT governance thinking and it applies to companies that seek to integrate Internet, Intranet and Web technologies into their business activities in some form of an e-business model. Such integration is termed the fusion of IT and business to develop an e-business. The framework explains and elaborates ebusiness strategies for coping with emergent organizations and planned aspects of IT. The basic premise of the proposed framework is that organization, especially virtual organization, is both planned and emergent, diverging from the dominant premise of central control in IT governance

    A Study of E-Business/E-Manufacturing Models

    Traditional business methods are taking a drastic turn and changing to digitized businesses. Information and communication technology is being integrated into orthodox business practices and giving birth to e-business. E-business in turn, is looking up to e-business models for dynamic integration. The e-business concept was first explored. It was broken down into its smaller entities to make for a clearer and better understanding. Components of an electronic business were identified, and e-commerce was understood to be a subset of e-business. It was established that for a business to be e-business enabled, it required information and communication technology (ICT) to be integrated into its brick and mortar business practice. This showed that the e-business concept was not replacing traditional business practices but improving on it. The e-manufacturing business practice was also researched. This practice was found to be in essence e-business, but in the manufacturing context. It showed that e-manufacturing made for a dynamic integration of the complex manufacturing business practice in real-time. It linked shop floors to top floors, as well as all the other areas of the whole manufacturing supply chain. Adequate relevance was established for designing e-business and e-manufacturing models. This was achieved through rigorous literature review as well as a questionnaire survey. A hypothesis design and test based on the literature review was made to ascertain what models are utilized and in what context. Currently used models in different company sectors were discovered, and their subsequent benefits identified. Also reasons behind the adoption of the different models in the firms investigated were identified. Barriers associated with the e-business practice as well as the implementation of an e-business model were also identified. A measurement system was utilized to ascertain if the investigated models met that stated in the literature (i.e. product innovation, infrastructure and the network of partners, customer relation, and finance). This was adopted from that presented in the literature review. Based on the study, a conclusion was drawn and recommendations suggested.

These IT integration requirements have expanded considerably with the advent of e-business; utilizing web services for B2B (Business to Business) and P2P (Partner to Partner) e-commerce. This paper proposes service oriented model driven architecture for dynamic workflow changes and strategy for implementation of these changes by isolation of services and business processes where by existing workflow systems can easily incorporate and integrate the changes following a step by step process replacement synchronization in workflow. This paper will also describe conceptual framework for prototype implementation resulting in dynamic collaborative workflow management

    The Critical Success Factors and Integrated Model for Implementing E-business in Taiwan’s SMEs

    Purpose - To date, identifying barriers and critical success factors (CSFs) and integrating business model in implementing e-business for SMEs have not been systematically investigated. Few existing studies have derived their CSFs and business model from large companies\u27 perspectives and have not considered the needs of integration for smaller businesses. This paper is aimed to bridge this gap. Design/methodology/approach - Existing studies on CSFs and e-business model were reviewed and their limitations were identified. By integrating insights drawn from these studies as well as adding some new factors, the author proposed a set of 18 CSFs which is believed to be more useful for SMEs. The importance of the proposed CSFs was theoretically discussed and justified. In addition, a case study was conducted to evaluate the extent of success of this proposition. Findings - The overall results from the case study assessment were positive, thus reflecting the appropriateness of the proposed CSFs and integrated model. Practical implications - The set of CSFs and integrated model can act as a list of items and an easy to follow model for SMEs to address when adopting e-business. This helps to ensure that the essential issues and factors are covered during implementation. For academics, it provides a common language for them to discuss and study the factors crucial for the success of e-business in SMEs. Originality/value - This study is probably the first to provide an integrative perspective of CSFs and integrated model for implementing e-business in the SME sector. It gives valuable information, which hopefully will help this business sector to accomplish e-business visions
