    SENTIGRADE: A SENTIMENT BASED USER PROFILING STRATEGY FOR PERSONALISATION

    Nowadays, the availability of folksonomy data is increased to make importance for user profiling approaches to provide results of the retrieval data or personalized recommendation. The approach is used for detecting the preferences for users and can be able to understand the interest of the user in a better way. In this approach, the incorporation of information with numerous data which depends upon sentiment is implemented using a framework SentiGrade by User Profiles (UP) and Resource Profiles (RP) for user Personalized Search (PS). From the folksonomy data, the discovery of User Preference (UsP) is presented by a rigorous probabilistic framework and relevance method are proposed for obtaining Sentiment-Based Personalized (SBP) ranking. According to the evaluation of the approach, the proposed SBP search is compared with the existing method and uses the two datasets namely, Movielens and FMRS databases. The experimental outcome of the research proved the effectiveness of the framework and works well when compared to the existing method. Through user study, the evaluation of approaches and developed systems are made which shows that considering information such as relevance and probabilistic data in Web Personalization (WP) systems can able to offer better recommendations and provide much effective personalization services to users

    Pre-train, Interact, Fine-tune: A Novel Interaction Representation for Text Classification

    Text representation can aid machines in understanding text. Previous work on text representation often focuses on the so-called forward implication, i.e., preceding words are taken as the context of later words for creating representations, thus ignoring the fact that the semantics of a text segment is a product of the mutual implication of words in the text: later words contribute to the meaning of preceding words. We introduce the concept of interaction and propose a two-perspective interaction representation, that encapsulates a local and a global interaction representation. Here, a local interaction representation is one that interacts among words with parent-children relationships on the syntactic trees and a global interaction interpretation is one that interacts among all the words in a sentence. We combine the two interaction representations to develop a Hybrid Interaction Representation (HIR). Inspired by existing feature-based and fine-tuning-based pretrain-finetuning approaches to language models, we integrate the advantages of feature-based and fine-tuning-based methods to propose the Pre-train, Interact, Fine-tune (PIF) architecture. We evaluate our proposed models on five widely-used datasets for text classification tasks. Our ensemble method, outperforms state-of-the-art baselines with improvements ranging from 2.03% to 3.15% in terms of error rate. In addition, we find that, the improvements of PIF against most state-of-the-art methods is not affected by increasing of the length of the text.Comment: 32 pages, 5 figure

    How to measure information similarity in online social networks: A case study of Citeulike

    In our current knowledge-driven society, many information systems encourage users to utilize their online social connections’ information collections actively as useful sources. The abundant information-sharing activities among online social connections could be valuable in enhancing and developing a sophisticated user information model. In order to leverage the shared information as a user information model, our preliminary job is to determine how to measure effectively the resulting patterns. However, this task is not easy, due to multiple aspects of information and the diversity of information preferences among social connections. Which similarity measure is the most representable for the common interests of multifaceted information among online social connections? This is the main question we will explore in this paper. In order to answer this question, we considered users’ self-defined online social connections, specifically in Citeulike, which were built around an object-centered sociality as the gold standard of shared interests among online social connections. Then, we computed the effectiveness of various similarity measures in their capabilities to estimate shared interests. The results demonstrate that, instead of focusing on monotonous bookmark-based similarities, it is significantly better to zero in on more cognitively expressible metadata-based similarities in accounting for shared interests
