Abstract. Determining the physical location of the users of a multi-agent system is essential if we want it to provide them with context-awareness services. A context-aware system can answer to the requests of its users in a more effective way, being able of consider the conditioners that affect them. Here we present SMAUG, a multiagent context-aware system aimed at managing the university tasks of tutor and pupils. We discuss several alternatives to obtain context-awareness and propose a concrete solution to this subject. 1 Introduction. In the development of a multiagent system, several factors must be considered. One of this factors refers to the information the system will handle from the user’s environment. This information will allow us a better interaction with the user. Perhaps the most important information we can obtain from a system that interacts with the people in a concrete area is the location of the user. This information allo
