Combining Multiple Clusterings via Crowd Agreement Estimation and Multi-Granularity Link Analysis
The clustering ensemble technique aims to combine multiple clusterings into a
probably better and more robust clustering and has been receiving an increasing
attention in recent years. There are mainly two aspects of limitations in the
existing clustering ensemble approaches. Firstly, many approaches lack the
ability to weight the base clusterings without access to the original data and
can be affected significantly by the low-quality, or even ill clusterings.
Secondly, they generally focus on the instance level or cluster level in the
ensemble system and fail to integrate multi-granularity cues into a unified
model. To address these two limitations, this paper proposes to solve the
clustering ensemble problem via crowd agreement estimation and
multi-granularity link analysis. We present the normalized crowd agreement
index (NCAI) to evaluate the quality of base clusterings in an unsupervised
manner and thus weight the base clusterings in accordance with their clustering
validity. To explore the relationship between clusters, the source aware
connected triple (SACT) similarity is introduced with regard to their common
neighbors and the source reliability. Based on NCAI and multi-granularity
information collected among base clusterings, clusters, and data instances, we
further propose two novel consensus functions, termed weighted evidence
accumulation clustering (WEAC) and graph partitioning with multi-granularity
link analysis (GP-MGLA) respectively. The experiments are conducted on eight
real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and

Progressively Dual Prior Guided Few-shot Semantic Segmentation
Few-shot semantic segmentation task aims at performing segmentation in query
images with a few annotated support samples. Currently, few-shot segmentation
methods mainly focus on leveraging foreground information without fully
utilizing the rich background information, which could result in wrong
activation of foreground-like background regions with the inadaptability to
dramatic scene changes of support-query image pairs. Meanwhile, the lack of
detail mining mechanism could cause coarse parsing results without some
semantic components or edge areas since prototypes have limited ability to cope
with large object appearance variance. To tackle these problems, we propose a
progressively dual prior guided few-shot semantic segmentation network.
Specifically, a dual prior mask generation (DPMG) module is firstly designed to
suppress the wrong activation in foreground-background comparison manner by
regarding background as assisted refinement information. With dual prior masks
refining the location of foreground area, we further propose a progressive
semantic detail enrichment (PSDE) module which forces the parsing model to
capture the hidden semantic details by iteratively erasing the high-confidence
foreground region and activating details in the rest region with a hierarchical
structure. The collaboration of DPMG and PSDE formulates a novel few-shot
segmentation network that can be learned in an end-to-end manner. Comprehensive
experiments on PASCAL-5i and MS COCO powerfully demonstrate that our proposed
algorithm achieves the great performance
Res2Net: A New Multi-scale Backbone Architecture
Representing features at multiple scales is of great importance for numerous
vision tasks. Recent advances in backbone convolutional neural networks (CNNs)
continually demonstrate stronger multi-scale representation ability, leading to
consistent performance gains on a wide range of applications. However, most
existing methods represent the multi-scale features in a layer-wise manner. In
this paper, we propose a novel building block for CNNs, namely Res2Net, by
constructing hierarchical residual-like connections within one single residual
block. The Res2Net represents multi-scale features at a granular level and
increases the range of receptive fields for each network layer. The proposed
Res2Net block can be plugged into the state-of-the-art backbone CNN models,
e.g., ResNet, ResNeXt, and DLA. We evaluate the Res2Net block on all these
models and demonstrate consistent performance gains over baseline models on
widely-used datasets, e.g., CIFAR-100 and ImageNet. Further ablation studies
and experimental results on representative computer vision tasks, i.e., object
detection, class activation mapping, and salient object detection, further
verify the superiority of the Res2Net over the state-of-the-art baseline

Object Discovery From a Single Unlabeled Image by Mining Frequent Itemset With Multi-scale Features
TThe goal of our work is to discover dominant objects in a very general
setting where only a single unlabeled image is given. This is far more
challenge than typical co-localization or weakly-supervised localization tasks.
To tackle this problem, we propose a simple but effective pattern mining-based
method, called Object Location Mining (OLM), which exploits the advantages of
data mining and feature representation of pre-trained convolutional neural
networks (CNNs). Specifically, we first convert the feature maps from a
pre-trained CNN model into a set of transactions, and then discovers frequent
patterns from transaction database through pattern mining techniques. We
observe that those discovered patterns, i.e., co-occurrence highlighted
regions, typically hold appearance and spatial consistency. Motivated by this
observation, we can easily discover and localize possible objects by merging
relevant meaningful patterns. Extensive experiments on a variety of benchmarks
demonstrate that OLM achieves competitive localization performance compared
with the state-of-the-art methods. We also evaluate our approach compared with
unsupervised saliency detection methods and achieves competitive results on
seven benchmark datasets. Moreover, we conduct experiments on fine-grained
classification to show that our proposed method can locate the entire object
and parts accurately, which can benefit to improving the classification results
significantly
