Super-Cerenkov Radiation: A new phenomenon useful for RICH Detectors

In this contribution the Super-Cerenkov radiation (SCR) as a new phenomenon which includes in a more general and exact form the usual Cerenkov effect is presented. The Super-Cerenkov effect at Cerenkov threshold in the radiators of RICH detectors is investigated. The results on the experimental test of the super- Cerenkov coherence conditions are presented. The SCR-predictions are verified experimentally with high accuracy chi/n_{dof}=1.47 by the data on the Cerenkov ring radii of electron, muon, pion and kaon, all measured with RICH detector. Moreover, it is shown that the Super-Cerenkov phenomenon can explain not only subthreshold CR but also the observed secondary rings (or anomalous Cerenkov radiation) observed at CERN SPS accelerator. The influence of medium on the particle propagation properties is also estimated and the refractive properties of electrons, muons, pions, in the radiator C4F10Ar are obtained. So, we proved that the refractive indices of the charged elementary particles in medium are also very important for the RICH detectors, especially at low and intermediate energies.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure

    The Steps to Managerial Excellence

Without any doubt, relaunching Romanian economy depends very much on SME sector getting out of the crisis, sector which has the main contribution to GDP production, to state budget income and human resources employment. Starting from these premises, based on scientific research performed in the framework of the VALAD* project, we present in the following a group of coordinates and markers which, in our opinion, are capable to relaunch indigenous SME sector. Elements contained in this study are complementary to the ones presented in the article “Policy coordinates concerning SME sector development in Romania”, published in the previous issue of this magazine.crisis; SME sector; SME’s management; entrepreneurship.

Toward a New Phenomenon: Super-Cerenkov Radiation

In this letter a new coherent gamma emission mechanism, called Super-Cerenkov radiation, is introduced. The SCR is expected to take place when the charged particle is moving in a medium with a phase velocity satisfying the super-coherent condition. The results on an experimental test of SCR in RICH detector are presented.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure

A New Optimal Bound on Logarithmic Slope of Elastic Hadron-Hadron Scattering

In this paper we prove a new optimal bound on the logarithmic slope of the elastic slope when: elastic cross section and differential cross sections in forward and backward directions are known from experimental data. The results on the experimental tests of this new optimal bound are presented in Sect. 3 for the principal meson-nucleon elastic scatterings: pion-nucleon, kaon-nucleon at all available energies. Then we have shown that the saturation of this optimal bound is observed with high accuracy practically at all available energies in meson-nucleon scattering.Comment: format revtex4, 4 pages, 1 figur

Generalized exponents of small representations. I

This is the first paper in a sequence devoted to giving manifestly non-negative formulas for generalized exponents of small representations in all types. The main part of this paper illustrates the overall structure of the argument on root systems of type A and discusses the relationship with the Lascoux-Schutzenberger charge formula.Comment: 30 p

Transhumanism Between Human Enhancement and Technological Innovation

    Get PDF
Transhumanism introduces from its very beginning a paradigm shift about concepts like human nature, progress and human future. An overview of its ideology reveals a strong belief in the idea of human enhancement through technologically means. The theory of technological singularity, which is more or less a radicalisation of the transhumanist discourse, foresees a radical evolutionary change through artificial intelligence. The boundaries between intelligent machines and human beings will be blurred. The consequence is the upcoming of a post-biological and posthuman future when intelligent technology becomes autonomous and constantly self-improving. Considering these predictions, I will investigate here the way in which the idea of human enhancement modifies our understanding of technological innovation. I will argue that such change goes in at least two directions. On the one hand, innovation is seen as something that will inevitably lead towards intelligent machines and human enhancement. On the other hand, there is a direction such as “Singularity University,” where innovation is called to pragmatically solving human challenges. Yet there is a unifying spirit which holds together the two directions and I think it is the same transhumanist idea

A managerial modernization model in crisis conditions

The improvement of the economic performances of Romanian enterprises facing crisis conditions could be achieved by means of promoting and implementing a range of managerial modernization methods. Among them we mention several factors pertaining to strategic management: redesigning the managerial system, implementing methodological management – with an emphasis on profit center management and other managerial tools which ensure process and organizational flexibility – and professionalizing the management and managers. Based on the aforementioned factors, the model we put forth aims at increasing the management’s role in achieving reasonable levels of efficiency and effectiveness.managerial modernization, managerial redesign, methodological management, strategic management, profit center management, performance.
