Real-time data analytic platform
Artificial, Internet of Things (IoT), social media e componentes de software/hardware.

Modernin Datakeskuksen Energiatehokkuus
Digitalization is here and everyday more and more data are being stored or transferred over the internet. That means that more datacenters are needed and with their growing number the question is if this development is sustainable for energy efficiency. That is why this thesis studies what are the essential factors contributing to the energy efficiency, so the datacenter owners can maximize their energy efficiency and keep the outlook for future sustainable.
Through studying 3 datacenters here in Finland and holding interviews this thesis has gathered the following essential factors that contribute to the energy efficiency: business model, datacenter size, reuse of waste heat energy, location, renewability, transparency and open innovation. Concentrating on these factors and making sure that they align with their own business case, datacenter owners can make sure that they can also retain sustainability with their datacenters in future.

A data-driven framework for investigating customer retention
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University London. This study presents a data-driven simulation framework in order to understand customer behaviour and therefore improve customer retention. The overarching system design methodology used for this study is aligned with the design science paradigm. The Social Media Domain Analysis (SoMeDoA) approach
is adopted and evaluated to build a model on the determinants of customer satisfaction in the mobile services industry. Furthermore, the most popular machine learning algorithms for analysing customer churn are applied to analyse customer retention based on the derived determinants. Finally, a data-driven approach for agent-based modelling is proposed to investigate the social effect of customer retention. The key contribution of this study is the customer agent decision trees (CADET) approach and a data-driven approach for Agent-Based Modelling (ABM). The CADET approach is applied to a dataset provided by a UK mobile services company. One of the major findings of using the CADET approach to investigate customer retention is that social influence, specifically word of mouth has an impact on customer retention. The second contribution of this
study is the method used to uncover customer satisfaction determinants. The SoMeDoA framework was applied to uncover determinants of customer satisfaction in the mobile services industry. Customer service, coverage quality and price are found to be key determinants of customer satisfaction in the mobile services industry. The third contribution of this study is the approach used to build customer churn prediction models. The most popular machine learning techniques are used to build customer churn prediction models based on
identified customer satisfaction determinants. Overall, for the identified determinants, decision trees have the highest accuracy scores for building customer churn prediction models
Live, Personal Data Integration Through UI-Oriented Computing
This paper proposes a new perspective on the problem of data integration on the Web: the one of the Surface Web. It introduces the concept of UI-oriented computing as a computing paradigm whose core ingredient are the user interfaces that build up the SurfaceWeb, and shows how a sensible mapping of data integration tasks to user interface elements and user interactions is able to cope with data integration scenarios that so far have only be conceived for the Deep Web with its APIs and Web services. The described approach provides a novel conceptual and technological framework for practices, such as the integration of data APIs/services and the extraction of content from Web pages, that are common practice but still not adequately supported. The approach targets both programmers and users alike and comes as an extensible, open-source browser extension
Social Capital and Knowledge Sharing in Global Virtual Teams
Virtual collaborations gradually emerged with the development of information and communication technologies coupled with the invention of the internet. It became easier and more cost effective to bring the best talents together to work on common tasks and combine their expertise and knowledge regardless of their physical locations. The utilization of broader, richer and more diverse knowledge bases is the underlying argument for using global virtual teams as a new work arrangement. However, virtual settings present challenges for building social capital among team members which can consequently undermine interpersonal knowledge sharing.
This study addresses these interrelationships through two main research questions. The first question looks at the characteristics of global virtual teams that affect the development of social capital among virtual team members. The second research question aims to investigate the main factors of social capital that influence interpersonal knowledge sharing in global virtual teams.
The empirical study was conducted through qualitative research methods in the form of an in-depth case study of semi-structured personal and phone interviews. Ten interviews with representatives from five different countries were carried out to collect data for the research.
The role of geographical dispersions of team members, high reliance on information and communication technology, and cultural and language diversities in the development of social capital and knowledge sharing within global virtual teams was observed. Based on the collected data, the factors influencing the development of three dimensions of social capital and their impact on knowledge sharing in global virtual teams were identified. The results of the research show that technology alone does not ensure knowledge sharing. Building social capital helps mediate the communication challenges and breakdowns within global virtual teams and reduce associated losses. Teams that develop social capital are more responsive and attentive to other members’ communication, information, and knowledge needs.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format
How organisational transformation factors influence on market orientation and the effect of organisation culture? A study on Sri Lankan telecommunication sector
The telecommunication industry has become a key driving force of the Sri Lankan economy. The telecommunication as a service sector is highly competitive in the Sri Lankan market, which plays a vital role in the new digital era. The study has focused on Sri Lankan telecommunication industry by considering its frequently changing business environment. The concept of organisational transformation has been a major initiative for many organisations to survive in rapidly changing and competitive business environment. Telecom operators in Sri Lanka have taken many transformational initiatives within last ten to fifteen years based on different factors to face the competitive business environment. During transformational initiatives, telco operators have followed the success stories of international telecom operators or few transformational factors to achieve success. It is questionable whether they achieve expected targets. Tremendous efforts taken through various studies to identify the success factors of organisation transformation, but the failure factors were not highlighted to a considerable level. Most of the studies have considered few transformational factors at a time while analysing the market orientation components and this study address the research gap. The study has chosen positivism as the research philosophy and followed the deductive approach in justifying variables towards building the conceptual framework. The study measure the relationship between different variables and factors i.e. organisation leadership, resources, tructure, systems and innovation as independent variables, organisational culture as the mediating variable and market orientation as the dependent variable. The internal consistency and reliability of variables have been verified over a pilot study. The study has used a sample of 330,which represents different levels of executives in three major telecom operators in Sri Lanka. The different executive grade members were selected using stratified cluster sampling to receive responses using quantitative technique. The hypotheses were tested using Smart–PLS software and Bootstrapping option was used to examine the mediating effect. Results verified that organisational transformation significantly influence market orientation whilst the impact of transformation on organizational culture was also proven. The relationship between organizational culture and market orientation also proved and found a significant mediation effect of organizational culture on the relationship between organisational transformation and market orientation. The final chapter presents the overall summery with the recommendations for managerial implications
