Mathematical Modeling Of Horizontal Displacement Of Above-ground Gas Pipelines
The modern geodetic equipment allows observations as soon as possible, providing high accuracy and productivity. Achieving high accuracy of measurement is impossible without taking into account external factors that create influence on an observation object. Therefore, in order to evaluate an influence of thermal displacement on the results of geodetic monitoring a mathematical model of horizontal displacement of above-ground pipelines was theoretically grounded and built. In this paper we used data of experimental studies on the existing pipelines "Soyuz" and "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod". Above-ground pipeline was considered as a dynamic system "building - environment". Based on the characteristics of dynamic systems the correlation between the factors of thermal influence and horizontal displacement of the pipeline axis was defined.Establishing patterns between input factors and output response of the object can be useful not only for geodetic control, but also for their consideration in the design of new objects. It was investigated that the greatest influence on the accuracy of geodetic observations can create dispersion of high-frequency oscillations caused by daily thermal displacement. The magnitude of displacement exceeds actual measurement error. The article presents the results of calculation of high-frequency oscillations of above-ground gas pipeline. The result made it possible to substantiate the accuracy and methodology of geodetic observations of the horizontal displacement of pipeline axes taking into account an influence of cyclical thermal displacement.Research results were recommended for use in practice for enterprises that serve the main gas pipelines and successfully tested by specialists of PJSC "Ukrtransgaz" (Kharkiv, Ukraine) during the technical state control of aerial pipeline crossing in Ukraine and also can be used to form the relevant regulations
Relationship between vertical and horizontal magnetic fields in the quiet Sun
Vertical magnetic fields have been known to exist in the internetwork region
for decades, while the properties of horizontal magnetic fields have recently
been extensively investigated with \textit{Hinode}. Vertical and horizontal
magnetic fields in the internetwork region are considered to be separate
entities and have thus far not been investigated in a unified way. We discover
clear positional association between the vertical and horizontal magnetic
fields in the internetwork region with \textit{Hinode}. Essentially all of the
horizontal magnetic patches are associated with the vertical magnetic patches.
Alternatively, half of the vertical magnetic patches accommodate the horizontal
magnetic patches. These horizontal patches are located around the borders of
the vertical patches. The intrinsic magnetic field strength as obtained with
the Stokes line ratio inside the horizontal patches is weak, and is in
sub-equipartition field regime ( G), while the field strength outside
the horizontal patches ranges from weak to strong (kG) fields. Vertical
magnetic patches are known to be concentrated on mesogranular and supergranular
boundaries, while the horizontal magnetic patches are found only on the
mesogranular boundaries. These observations provide us with new information on
the origin of the vertical and horizontal internetwork magnetic fields, in a
unified way. We conjecture that internetwork magnetic fields are provided by
emergence of small-scale flux tubes with bipolar footpoints, and the vertical
magnetic fields of the footpoints are intensified to kG fields due to
convective collapse. Resultant strong vertical fields are advected by the
supergranular flow, and eventually form the network fields.Comment: 50 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in The Astrophysical

Nurses’ Perceptions of Horizontal Violence
In this article, I describe a study exploring horizontal violence and nurses’ perceptions of the phenomenon within the context of two 28-bed inpatient hospital units. The purpose of the study was to develop a clearer understanding of horizontal violence, incorporating observation and inquiry to identify the language nurses use to describe their experiences and factors in the nursing work environment that may perpetuate the phenomenon. Observation, review and analysis of policies, and interviews with staff were completed between June and November 2012. Thematic analysis resulted in five themes: (a) behaviors are minimized and not recognized, (b) fear inhibits all reporting, (c) avoidance and isolation are coping strategies, (d) lack of respect and support, and (e) organizational chaos. The findings suggest future interventions must address a range of factors that perpetuate horizontal violence within the nursing work environment with consideration for the embeddedness and complexity of the phenomenon
Horizontal activites. QLIF subproject 7: Horizontal activities
QLIF subproject 7 represents four horizontal activities common to the project, namely: • Environmental and sustainability audits • Cost-benefit analyses and socio-economic impact assessments • Dissemination and technology transfer • Training of graduate and postgraduate researchers Activities in the horizontal research have shown that organic crop production systems generally are more energy-efficient and have lower greenhouse gas emissions than the conventional production. In terms of dissemination the QLIF website has been central and the QLIF newsletter has attracted more than 1000 subscribers. Coupling of the website with the open access database Organic Eprints provides a prospective source of project information that can be accessed also by future stakeholders in organic and low-input systems. Training events arranged annually for students have contributed to proliferation of skills and knowledge gained in QLIF. Also, these events have served to mediate the attitude needed for research in organic and low-input farming
