    Managing Non-Homogeneous Information and Experts’ Psychological Behavior in Group Emergency Decision Making

    After an emergency event (EE) happens, emergency decision making (EDM) is a common and effective way to deal with the emergency situation, which plays an important role in mitigating its level of harm. In the real world, it is a big challenge for an individual emergency manager (EM) to make a proper and comprehensive decision for coping with an EE. Consequently, many practical EDM problems drive group emergency decision making (GEDM) problems whose main limitations are related to the lack of flexibility in knowledge elicitation, disagreements in the group and the consideration of experts’ psychological behavior in the decision process. Hence, this paper proposes a novel GEDM approach that allows more flexibility for preference elicitation under uncertainty, provides a consensus process to avoid disagreements and considers experts’ psychological behavior by using the fuzzy TODIM method based on prospect theory.     Multi-objective evolutionary–fuzzy augmented flight control for an F16 aircraft

    In this article, the multi-objective design of a fuzzy logic augmented flight controller for a high performance fighter jet (the Lockheed-Martin F16) is described. A fuzzy logic controller is designed and its membership functions tuned by genetic algorithms in order to design a roll, pitch, and yaw flight controller with enhanced manoeuverability which still retains safety critical operation when combined with a standard inner-loop stabilizing controller. The controller is assessed in terms of pilot effort and thus reduction of pilot fatigue. The controller is incorporated into a six degree of freedom motion base real-time flight simulator, and flight tested by a qualified pilot instructor

    Fuzzy data envelopment analysis:a discrete approach

    Data envelopment analysis (DEA) as introduced by Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes (1978) is a linear programming technique that has widely been used to evaluate the relative efficiency of a set of homogenous decision making units (DMUs). In many real applications, the input-output variables cannot be precisely measured. This is particularly important in assessing efficiency of DMUs using DEA, since the efficiency score of inefficient DMUs are very sensitive to possible data errors. Hence, several approaches have been proposed to deal with imprecise data. Perhaps the most popular fuzzy DEA model is based on a-cut. One drawback of the a-cut approach is that it cannot include all information about uncertainty. This paper aims to introduce an alternative linear programming model that can include some uncertainty information from the intervals within the a-cut approach. We introduce the concept of "local a-level" to develop a multi-objective linear programming to measure the efficiency of DMUs under uncertainty. An example is given to illustrate the use of this method

    A Fuzzy Credibility-Based Chance-Constrained Optimization Model for Multiple-Objective Aggregate Production Planning in a Supply Chain under an Uncertain Environment

    In this study, a Multiple-Objective Aggregate Production Planning (MOAPP) problem in a supply chain under an uncertain environment is developed. The proposed model considers simultaneously four different conflicting objective functions. To solve the proposed Fuzzy Multiple-Objective Mixed Integer Linear Programming (FMOMILP) model, a hybrid approach has been developed by combining Fuzzy Credibility-based Chance-constrained Programming (FCCP) and Fuzzy Multiple-Objective Programming (FMOP). The FCCP can provide a credibility measure that indicates how much confidence the decision-makers may have in the obtained optimal solutions. In addition, the FMOP, which integrates an aggregation function and a weight-consistent constraint, is capable of handling many issues in making decisions under multiple objectives. The consistency of the ranking of objective’s important weight and satisfaction level is ensured by the weight-consistent constraint. Various compromised solutions, including balanced and unbalanced ones, can be found by using the aggregation function. This methodology offers the decision makers different alternatives to evaluate against conflicting objectives. A case experiment is then given to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed formulation model and solution approach. The obtained outcomes can assist to satisfy the decision-makers’ aspiration, as well as provide more alternative strategy selections based on their preferences

    Multi-objective fully intuitionistic fuzzy fixed-charge solid transportation problem

    During past few decades, fuzzy decision is an important attention in the areas of science, engineering, economic system, business, etc. To solve day-to-day problem, researchers use fuzzy data in transportation problem for presenting the uncontrollable factors; and most of multi-objective transportation problems are solved using goal programming. However, when the problem contains interval-valued data, then the obtained solution was provided by goal programming may not satisfy by all decision-makers. In such condition, we consider a fixed-charge solid transportation problem in multi-objective environment where all the data are intuitionistic fuzzy numbers with membership and non-membership function. The intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem transforms into interval-valued problem using (α, β)-cut, and thereafter, it reduces into a deterministic problem using accuracy function. Also the optimum value of alternative corresponds to the optimum value of accuracy function. A numerical example is included to illustrate the usefulness of our proposed model.     Communicable diseases are the diseases which can be spread from one person to the other. It can also spread from infected animals. The transfer of the infection can occur through air, water, surfaces which are contaminated or through the direct contact. Moreover, Communicable Diseases are common among people nowadays days. In this paper, Fuzzy Optimization Model is developed based on Linear Programming Problem to control the communicable diseases with minimum curing time and dosage by distributing the various treatments to the disease population in order to reduce the human productivity loss. Finally, to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed optimization model, an analytic technique is given for some four combinable diseases with four types of treatments

    Assessment of the Regionalization of Precipitation in Two Canadian Climate Regions: A Fuzzy Clustering Approach

    Regional frequency analysis (RFA) is used to obtain reliable estimates of local precipitation events for a variety of applications in water resources engineering. The focus of the presented research is on an initial step of the RFA process; that is the formation of precipitation regions (also referred to as regionalization). The aim of this study is to dissect the regionalization procedure into its individual components that require subjective user input, and to evaluate their respective influences on the results. All assessments are conducted in two of Canada\u27s climate regions; namely the Prairie and Great Lakes-St. Lawrence lowlands. Additionally, a new fuzzy clustering approach to regionalization that uses optimization is proposed. It is evident that the outcomes are sensitive to the choice of the regionalization method, the number of regions into which the sites of the study area are partitioned, the climate site attributes and the temporal resolution of the precipitation data. Recommendations for the selection of such factors are provided based on their application
