Bologna changes in MA degree programmes. Convergence of the public administration programmes in South-Eastern Europe
The provisions of Bologna Declaration are ongoing implemented in several South- Eastern European states, members or non members of the European Union. For most states, important restructuring processes for the legal framework and organisation system of higher education were imperative. At the same time, the content of the programmes for all the three cycles was revised in order to follow closely the finalities stipulated in the European documents, substantiating the European Higher Education Area. In this context, the current paper aims to carry out the comparative analysis for the actual level attained by the mentioned states in implementing Bologna Process, with special attention towards higher education in the area of public administration. Research teams, led by the author of this paper have analysed the degree of curricular compatibility of the Bachelor programmes from various European states. This time, the research will focus on describing the process of convergence related to the delivery modalities and the content of the Master programmes in the area of public administration, corresponding to the second cycle of Bologna system. A general survey of education on Niue : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Education at Massey University
The primary purpose of the thesis is to survey the provisions for education which began with the London Missionary Society Schools and eventually in 1952 the Government Administration assumed responsibilities towards developing a full quota of primary education. Secondary education at Niue High School followed in 1956, with a Teachers Training Centre in 1958, both of which constituted provisions for post-primary education, supplemented by higher education made available in New Zealand and other overseas institutions. Niue's educational provisions will continue to become dependent on New Zealand in opportunities for higher education, in educational policies, for financial aid and to a less extent for the vocational courses designed to furnish Niue's manpower requirements. Part II deals with the relationships between education, manpower needs and economic development in which ideas are explored within the Niuean context. This scrutiny indicates that the education provisions are not well related to the manpower needs of Niue as a politically self-governed state. The Government Administration and in general the Niue Public Service are adequately catered for, but not so in economic development and manpower needs. Irrelevancy in education provisions resulted in social disorganisation which is a direct effect of Nuieans emigrating to New Zealand to seek employment, and to a greater extent utilise the skills that were learnt in the classroom. The key ideas in the series of education planning are examined and recommended for the future are proposed with particular respect to Agriculture, School Curriculum, and Adult Education

As the editors of this book state in the introduction, little has been written about how to provide effective academic leadership to a Christian institution of higher education. This collection of essays was written for an audience of academic administrators under the assumption that most individuals who find themselves in such a role have very little formal preparation for their responsibilities. Furthermore, academic leaders in Christian higher education in particular generally come into such positions with a great deal of experience in their respective fields, but with very little theological preparation needed to make day to day decisions in a faith-based environment. Compatibility of the Content of Bachelor Programs in Public Administration with the Needs of Good Governance - A Comparison: EU-US
Higher education in most European states is subject to a complex process of adaptation to the requirements formulated by Bologna process. For some states, such as Romania, this process assumes core restructuring of the content, aimed to its compatibility with that from prestigious European universities. For education in public administration, the developments have a specific character, benefiting of European mechanisms of evaluation, aimed to describe the degree of compatibility. One of the mechanisms is provided by the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation, taking into consideration complex evaluation standards and criteria in view of accreditation. Multidisciplinarity represents one of the important standards. Based on the general context of developing the programs in public administration, we may speak about Europeanization of their content; Europeanization reveals exactly the degree of absorption of the European values specific for the area of public administration in national higher education institutions. The Europeanization process represents a complex process that can cover several years and means step by step approaches by which the structure and content of the above programs should be convergent. In this context, the current paper aims a comparative analysis, based on statistic methods, providing an image about the current level of Europeanization of the content of programs in public administration between various universities in Romania, states in Central and Eastern Europe recently accessed into the European Union and developed countries in the European Union. Based the research methodology and using NASPA standards, our analysis will include American universities that are developing programs in public administration. Thus, the structure of the paper will comprise: -General framework for developing the European higher education after signing Bologna Declaration. -Research methodology based on EAPAA standards. -Presenting the results of the statistic analysis for 10 universities in Romania, 4 universities in Central and Eastern Europe and 4 universities in European developed states. -Comparing the results with those from 3-4 American universities and describing the relevant conclusions from the perspective of the content specific for governance issue. A Comparative Analysis of the American and Romanian Business Education Programs
The purpose of this paper is to present a comparative analysis of the business education programs offered by Auburn University's College of Business, Alabama, U.S.A. and Faculty of Business Administration, Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest Romania. This comparative analysis is conceived in a larger perspective of the two different cultures and traditions in developing business education programs. CREATING THE FUTURE KNOWLEDGE WORKER
The article aims to determine if the economic and business higher education institutions contributes to the creation of the future knowledge worker that organizations need in the new economy. In order to achieve this goal a case study was developed. After analyzing the number of graduates, reputation and experience of all the 15 faculties of economics registered in Romania, we selected the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi to be the unit of analysis. This is one of the oldest economic higher education institutions, has almost 2000 graduates per year and is the third provider of economists for labor market. We applied a content analysis to 108 courses taught to undergraduates in Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi. The matters of investigation were the education goals, practical assignments topics, and teaching and evaluating methods. Conclusions showed that the courses taught to the undergraduates’ level are not oriented towards teamwork, communication, and use of information technologies. As a consequence, the graduates will not be able to respond efficiently to knowledge economy challenges and will represent a vulnerability for the organization because they will be “one step behind” what’s happening on the market.economic higher education, human resources, knowledge economy, knowledge worker, teamwork skills.
The Analysis of Evolutionary Changes in the System of Higher Medical Education in Ukraine in the First Half of the Xx-th Century
The article is devoted to the development of the higher medical education in Ukraine in 1900–1940. The actuality of the history of educational establishments\u27 system generalization for the theoretical understanding of educational process peculiarities within a certain brunch of education is revealed. The state of the higher medical education in Ukraine at the beginning of the XX century is depicted. The development of universities\u27 medical departments in the first two decades of the XX century is analyzed. The common features and differences of university education in Russian and Austrian parts of Ukraine are described. Organizational forms of medical educational establishments are analyzed. The tendency of increasing the system of educational establishments by the foundation of the higher courses for women is stated. The changes in the system of medical education after the establishment of the soviet power in Ukraine are analyzed. Soviet government activities in the sphere of higher education in general and its medical branch in particular are depicted. The dynamics of medical institutes as well as the system of higher education administration development in 1920–1930-s is revealed. New organizational forms were established that reflected the search for the optimal educational system corresponding to the new epoch challenges and the goals of the new state. The influence of ideological conceptions on all branches of higher education in that time is obvious. It was especially strong in 1920-s in comparison with more pragmatic 1930-s. The general conclusion is made about the unification and strengthening of the state control in the educational process, especially in the soviet period. It is stated that, though the organs of self-administration in higher school were functioning, the educational process was to the great extent centralized. Gender and Leadership: Reflections of Women in Higher Education Administration
Scholarly work on leadership, both inside and outside the academy, has been male-centric, in that it most often has been conducted by men and focused on male leaders. As a result, male behaviors and characteristics in leadership roles have been the standard against which women leaders are assessed. Reflection research is employed in this article to examine the leadership experiences of three women higher education administrators in order to provide insight into women’s behaviors as academic leaders. The insights gained will help us understand how women navigate the male-centric realm of higher education administration, and can provide guidance for women in academic leadership positions and to those who aspire to academic leadership
Europeanisation of Higher Education in the Area of Administrative Sciences in Romania
The paper aims to reveal some relevant issues about Europeanisation of higher education in the area of administrative sciences in Romania. Europeanisation as global process in the European space is supported and promoted through a specific legislative framework as well as relevant institutional mechanisms. Since 2005, by applying the provisions of Bologna Declaration, the whole configuration of the Romanian higher education has significantly changed. Based on comprehensive empirical researches, the paper approaches and describes both "the Europeanism degree" for the content of the educational process in bachelor, master, doctoral studies in administrative sciences and the social perception of the phenomena and processes deriving from and influencing the Romanian public administration reform, training needs for each academic cycle, graduates' insertion in the labour market. Analysing the Employability of Business and Administration Study Programs in Portugal
This paper presents an analysis on the higher education graduates' employability in the field of Business and Administration in Portugal. Using econometric techniques, we consider the impact of several variables in the unemployment "propensity" of the pair study program/institution. The results show that there are important differences between public and private institutions, between study programs of great and small size, between the several fields of graduation within Business and Administration as well as regional differences.Graduates;Business and Administration Science; Employability; Higher Education; Fractional Models.
