Como sucede en buena parte de las desgracias, la familia es el centro de desavenencias que tienden a desintegrarla. En este caso, los lazos fraternales están lo suficientemente enraizados como para emerger fortalecidos del embate del pasado

Retention of Women of Color in Higher Education

This research paper focuses on the factors that contribute to the retention of women of color in higher education. Research has shown that students of color are at a higher risk of not returning to their institutions of higher education due to financial difficulties of their families, the lack of family support and the way in which the campus climate affects them uniquely.This research aims to answer the question: how does Hermanas Unidas at Santa Clara University contribute to the retention of women of color in higher education? While focusing on the three main factors that contribute to the retention of women of color in higher education- financial difficulties, family support and campus climate. Through a quan-qual study over the period six months, the research suggests that Hermans Unidas at Santa Clara University is able to provide a safe space where members do not think about their circumstance, financial or their family, as a limiting factor in completing their education. Instead, Hermanas Unidas, is able to provide the familial support on campus from women who share similar experiences

The Role of Reservations and Declarations before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights: The Las Hermanas Serrano Cruz Case and the Future of Inter-American Justice

Las Hermanas Serrano Cruz is a landmark case in the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights because it excludes a large body of arguably valid claims from meaningful adjudication within the inter-American system. In the Las Hermanas Serrano Cruz decision on preliminary objections, the Court upheld El Salvador’s restriction to rationae temporis. Although the State’s restriction was improper both substantively and procedurally, the Court held it to be valid under the American Convention on Human Rights by misclassifying it as a declaration rather than a reservation. This mistake not only proved detrimental to the Las Hermanas Serrano Cruz decision, but also to the future of human rights claims within the inter-American system. This paper will closely evaluate the inconsistencies within the Court’s reasoning, and suggest that at a minimum, the Court amend its procedural allowances for reservations and declarations. In the preferred alternative, serious consideration should be given to prohibiting reservations and declarations to the American Convention in their entirety

The Physical-chemical study is continued and also that of the technological properties of ceramic interest of thirteen samples of clays from Santiponce, Dos Hermanas and Villanueva del Río y Minas, in the province of Sevilla and from Calera de León in the province of Badajoz. Urban growth and territorial dynamics in Spain (1985-2001): A spatial econometrics analysis

The study of the territorial/regional development in Spain has nowadays a relatively long tradition, but from the point of view of cities development the number of studies and documents decreases drastically. This paper tries to improve the knowledge of the Spanish urban system. The aim of this paper is twofold: firstly, to determine the factors that explain the urban growth of Spanish cities; secondly, to observe the cities situation in terms of ¡§winners¡¨ and ¡§losers¡¨ after the long period of integration of Spain in the EU. A spatial conditional ƒÒ- convergence equation is specified and the Durbin-Wu-Haussman exogeneity test is used to check on the existence of simultaneity between urban growth and the control variables. El oratorio salesiano como espacio pedagógico

Considerar el oratorio como espacio pedagógico, es direccionar la mente y el corazón a la vida de Don Bosco en Valdocco y en el caso de las Hijas de María Auxiliadora, a Madre Mazzarello en Mornese. El Sistema Preventivo de Don Bosco, conocido como pedagogía salesiana, busca formar a la persona de manera integral; impregnada de fe en lo humano y encarnada en su realidad, a través de un itinerario educativo capaz de llevar a los jóvenes a la santidad. Don Bosco funda el oratorio como la respuesta oportuna a las necesidades de los jóvenes de su tiempo. De igual manera, Madre Mazarrello con las primeras hermanas dan inicio al oratorio con la apertura del taller y acogiendo a dos niñas huérfanas. Las hermanas con gran capacidad y, además, con mucho cariño dan respuesta a las necesidades de las niñas y jóvenes de Mornese
