Verontreiniging rode aal Nederlandse binnenwateren : monitoring voor sportvisserij 2004-2008

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

Harnessing the Power of Cost Control in Risk Management: Advantages and Benefits for Companies

    Get PDF
In today s highly competitive and globalized business environment it is essential for companies to maintain a strategic edge over their competitors One of the most critical aspects of a successful business is effective cost management particularly in the context of risk management This essay will discuss the advantages and benefits of a company having deep control over product costs focusing on its role in risk management The objective is to provide insights into how cost control can be employed to manage risks and create a sustainable competitive advantag

Modern Approaches to Risk Management and Their Use in Customs

    Get PDF
In the article the analysis of experience and best practices of Europe and the world regarding the methods and tools of risk management in customs affairs. In accordance with the requirements of the Kyoto Convention the risk management is the main basic principle of modern customs control methods, which allows optimal use of resources of customs bodies, without reducing the effectiveness of customs controls, and exempt the majority of foreign trade operators from unnecessary bureaucratic control. Procedures based on risk management, concentrate customs control on areas, where there is the greatest risk, allowing the bulk of goods and individuals relatively free to pass the checkpoint at the customs border Special attention is paid to the principles and methods of risk management and their impact on the simplification of customs procedures through the use of risk-based thinking. The paper discusses the problems concerning the application and implementation of modern risk management techniques in customs procedures subject to the requirements of international standards ISO for the quality management system and risk management based on risk-based thinking

Representations of Rational Cherednik algebras with minimal support and torus knots

We obtain several results about representations of rational Cherednik algebras, and discuss their applications. Our first result is the Cohen-Macaulayness property (as modules over the polynomial ring) of Cherednik algebra modules with minimal support. Our second result is an explicit formula for the character of an irreducible minimal support module in type A_{n-1} for c=m/n, and an expression of its quasispherical part (i.e., the isotypic part of "hooks") in terms of the HOMFLY polynomial of a torus knot colored by a Young diagram. We use this formula and the work of Calaque, Enriquez and Etingof to give explicit formulas for the characters of the irreducible equivariant D-modules on the nilpotent cone for SL_m. Our third result is the construction of the Koszul-BGG complex for the rational Cherednik algebra, which generalizes the construction of the Koszul-BGG resolution by Berest-Etingof-Ginzburg and Gordon, and the calculation of its homology in type A. We also show in type A that the differentials in the Koszul-BGG complex are uniquely determined by the condition that they are nonzero homomorphisms of modules over the Cherednik algebra. Finally, our fourth result is the symmetry theorem, which identifies the quasispherical components in the representations with minimal support over the rational Cherednik algebras H_{m/n}(S_n) and H_{n/m}(S_m). In fact, we show that the simple quotients of the corresponding quasispherical subalgebras are isomorphic as filtered algebras. This symmetry has a natural interpretation in terms of invariants of torus knots.Comment: 45 pages, latex; the new version contains a new subsection 3.4 on the Cohen-Macaulay property of subspace arrangements and a strengthened version of Theorem 1.

Comparative neurohormonal responses in patients with preserved and impaired left ventricular ejection fraction: Results of the studies of left ventricular dysfunctions (SOLVD) registry

AbstractObjectives. The aim of this study was to determine the differences in neurohumoral responses between patients with pulmonary congestion with and without impaired left ventricular ejection fraction.Background. Previous studies have established the presence of neurohumoral activation in patients with congestive heart failure. It is not known whether the activation of these neurohumoral mechanisms is related to the impairment in systolic contractility.Methods. The 898 patients recruited into the Studies of Left Ventricular Dysfunction (SOLVD) Registry substudy were examined to identify those patients with pulmonary congestion on chest X-ray film who had either unpaired (<- 45%, group I) or preserved (> 45%, group II) left ventricular ejection fraction. Plasma norepinephrine, plasma renin activity, arginine vasopressin and atrial natriuretic peptide levels were measured in these two groups of patients and compared with values in matched control subjects,Results. Distribution of the New York Heart Association symptom classification was the same in the two groups of patients. Compared with control subjects, patients in group II with pulmonary congestion and preserved ejection fraction had no activation of the neurohumoral mechanisms, except for a small but statistically significant increase in arginine vasopressin and plasma renin activity. Compared with patients in group II, those in group I with pulmonary congestion and unpaired ejection fraction had significant increases in plasma norepinephrine (p < 0.002), plasma renin activity (p < 0.02) and atrial natriuretic peptide levels (p < 0.0007). When we controlled for baseline differences between groups I and II, the between-group differences in plasma norepinephrine (p < 0.02) and atrial natriuretic peptide (p < 0.002) remained significant. However, plasma renin activity was not significantly different between groups I and II. When the effects of diuretic agents and angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitors were adjusted, patients with lower ejection fraction were found to have significantly higher plasma norepinephrine and atrial natriuretic peptide levels.Conclusions. The results point to the importance of the decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction as one of the mechanisms for activation of neurohormones in patients with heart failure
