Parametric Macromodels of Digital I/O Ports
This paper addresses the development of macromodels for input and output ports of a digital device. The proposed macromodels consist of parametric representations that can be obtained from port transient waveforms at the device ports via a well established procedure. The models are implementable as SPICE subcircuits and their accuracy and efficiency are verified by applying the approach to the characterization of transistor-level models of commercial devices
Classical sampling theorems in the context of multirate and polyphase digital filter bank structures
The recovery of a signal from so-called generalized samples is a problem of designing appropriate linear filters called reconstruction (or synthesis) filters. This relationship is reviewed and explored. Novel theorems for the subsampling of sequences are derived by direct use of the digital-filter-bank framework. These results are related to the theory of perfect reconstruction in maximally decimated digital-filter-bank systems. One of the theorems pertains to the subsampling of a sequence and its first few differences and its subsequent stable reconstruction at finite cost with no error. The reconstruction filters turn out to be multiplierless and of the FIR (finite impulse response) type. These ideas are extended to the case of two-dimensional signals by use of a Kronecker formalism. The subsampling of bandlimited sequences is also considered. A sequence x(n ) with a Fourier transform vanishes for |ω|⩾LĎ€/M, where L and M are integers with L<M, can in principle be represented by reducing the data rate by the amount M/L. The digital polyphase framework is used as a convenient tool for the derivation as well as mechanization of the sampling theorem
The finite harmonic oscillator and its associated sequences
A system of functions (signals) on the finite line, called the oscillator
system, is described and studied. Applications of this system for discrete
radar and digital communication theory are explained.

Sub-Nyquist Channel Estimation over IEEE 802.11ad Link
Nowadays, millimeter-wave communication centered at the 60 GHz radio
frequency band is increasingly the preferred technology for near-field
communication since it provides transmission bandwidth that is several GHz
wide. The IEEE 802.11ad standard has been developed for commercial wireless
local area networks in the 60 GHz transmission environment. Receivers designed
to process IEEE 802.11ad waveforms employ very high rate analog-to-digital
converters, and therefore, reducing the receiver sampling rate can be useful.
In this work, we study the problem of low-rate channel estimation over the IEEE
802.11ad 60 GHz communication link by harnessing sparsity in the channel
impulse response. In particular, we focus on single carrier modulation and
exploit the special structure of the 802.11ad waveform embedded in the channel
estimation field of its single carrier physical layer frame. We examine various
sub-Nyquist sampling methods for this problem and recover the channel using
compressed sensing techniques. Our numerical experiments show feasibility of
our procedures up to one-seventh of the Nyquist rates with minimal performance
deterioration.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, SampTA 2017 conferenc
