Flexible Organization of Repositories for Provisioning Cloud Infrastructures

The paper proposes an architecture of a system automating the provisioning process of cloud computing infrastructures. Its structure and components are specified, based on an analysis of three types of requirements: infrastructure providers, service providers and end users. These considerations have led us to formulate a new infrastructural model, offered to end users as a collection of Virtual Machines (VM) connected by a dedicated Virtual Private Network (VPN) with QoS guarantees. The role of repositories in cloud provisioning systems is specified along with the relevant data acquisition processes. The applicability of the proposed system is illustrated by practical usage scenarios

Resource Storage Management Model for Ensuring Quality of Service in the Cloud Archive Systems

Nowadays, service providers offer a lot of IT services in the public or private cloud. The client can buy various kinds of services like SaaS, PaaS, etc. Recently there was introduced Backup as a Service (BaaS) as a variety of SaaS. At the moment there are available several different BaaSes for archiving the data in the cloud, but they provide only a basic level of service quality. In the paper we propose a model which ensures QoS for BaaS and some  methods for management of storage resources aimed at achieving the required SLA. This model introduces a set of parameters responsible for SLA level which can be offered on the basic or higher level of quality. The storage systems (typically HSM), which are distributed between several Data Centres,  are built based on disk arrays, VTLs, and tape libraries. The RSMM model does not assume bandwidth reservation or control, but is rather focused on the management of storage resources

Storage QoS provisioning for execution programming of data-intensive applications

Abstract. In this paper a method for execution programming of data-intensive applications is presented. The method is based on storage Quality of Service (SQoS) provisioning. SQoS provisioning uses the semantic based storage monitoring based on a storage resources model and a storage performance management. Test results show the gain for the execution time when using the QStorMan toolkit which implements the presented method. Taking into account the SQoS provisioning opportunity on the one hand, and the increasingly growing user demands on the other hand, we believe that the execution programming of data-intensive applications can bring a new quality into the application execution
