STOMP: STudents Organized to Motivate for Phitness
This is a semester-long experience for undergraduate Physical Education – Teacher Education (PETE) majors that begins by setting a learning context through the creation of lesson plans for preschool fitness instruction, applying the lessons in a real-life context, and the development of informational newsletters for the preschoolers’ parents and teachers. The experience includes information literacy instruction, research into a variety of resources to generate appropriate movement activities for preschoolers, and synthesizing information to share with others. This experience includes visits to the IUPUI Center for Young Children during which the PETE majors demonstrate proficiency with the real world application of their knowledge products.Library Fund of the Indianapolis Foundatio
Pathfinders On-Line: Adding Pathfinders to a NOTIS On-Line System
For decades, print pathfinders have complemented card catalogs and been useful reference tools. They\u27re overlooked as components of on-line catalogs, even though they can extend the depth of the catalog. To encourage librarians to consider integrating pathfinders into on-line catalogs, the authors discuss problems in OPAC searching, describe the value and styles of pathfinders, and illustrate how to include them in a NOTIS system

Rehabilitation Counseling Academic Program Review
This report summarizes an evaluation of the UNT Libraries' Rehabilitation Counseling-related resources and materials to determine if the collection is adequately serving patron needs. It was generated as part of the UNT Libraries’ contributions to the university’s Academic Program Reviews, which are conducted by the Accreditation office in the Division of Planning. The UNT Libraries’ Collection Assessment Department evaluated collections’ ability to meet the curricular and research needs of the academic programs being reviewed. They assessed current needs based on course descriptions and research outputs, defined the scope of information needed based on this needs assessment, and evaluated the Libraries’ holdings in these subject areas against the usage, qualitative listings, and requests for materials from other libraries. Specific recommendations for collection development are provided based on the results of these analyses

'Teacher Shortages' in the U.S. and the politics of recruiting abroad
This commentary calls attention to the “importation” of overseas-trained teachers to teach in the U.S., to the
assumption of a widespread teacher shortage in the U.S. (used as a rationale for this practice), and to the authors’
fears that both local and overseas-trained teachers are being used as pawns in a high-stakes political battle.http://www.tcrecord.org/gv201

Dilemma of school districts in managing career counseling in South Africa
Historically most of the privileged white schools offered career guidance opportunities to their learners. Prior
to 1994 career guidance was compulsory for white learners. Black education operated under the Department of
Education and Training and some of the schools did offer guidance services through auxiliary services. School
districts in South Africa are faced by the following challenges, namely: limited resources, lack of expertise and
knowledge by some members of Institutional Learning Support Teams in managing multicultural counseling.
Clustering of schools can help school districts and schools in sharing of expertise, resources, comparing of
standards and for cooperative workinghttp://jeteraps.scholarlinkresearch.org/gv201
