A fuzzy extension of MAGERIT methodology for risk analysis in information systems
We propose a fuzzy approach to deal with risk analysis for information systems. We extend MAGERIT methodology that valuates the asset dependencies to a fuzzy framework adding fuzzy linguistic terms to valuate the different elements (terminal asset values, asset dependencies as well as the probability of threats and the resulting asset degradation) in risk analysis. Computations are based on the trapezoidal fuzzy numbers associated with these linguistic terms and, finally, the results of these operations are translated into a linguistic term by means of a similarity function
Fuzzy Transfer Pricing World: On the Analysis of Transfer Pricing with Fuzzy Logic Techniques
The arm’s length analysis of international transfer prices of multinational firms lacks sound methodological approach of the so-called function and risk analysis. In practice, such analyses are descriptive. Derived from Zadeh’s mathematical theory of fuzzy sets, this paper investigates a quantitative approach to identify the function and risk pattern of related parties of multinational companies. We illustrate our fuzzy logic approach with a simple case.
Measuring Technical Efficiency of Dairy Farms with Imprecise Data: A Fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis Approach
This article integrates fuzzy set theory in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) framework to compute technical efficiency scores when input and output data are imprecise. The underlying assumption in convectional DEA is that inputs and outputs data are measured with precision. However, production agriculture takes place in an uncertain environment and, in some situations, input and output data may be imprecise. We present an approach of measuring efficiency when data is known to lie within specified intervals and empirically illustrate this approach using a group of 34 dairy producers in Pennsylvania. Compared to the convectional DEA scores that are point estimates, the computed fuzzy efficiency scores allow the decision maker to trace the performance of a decision-making unit at different possibility levels.fuzzy set theory, Data Envelopment Analysis, membership function, α-cut level, technical efficiency, Farm Management, Production Economics, Productivity Analysis, Research Methods/ Statistical Methods, Risk and Uncertainty, D24, Q12, C02, C44, C61,
Fuzzy inference approach for assessing time related risk factors on highway rehabilitation projects in Nigeria
Construction projects are unique and continuously increasing in complexity. Hence, researchers relied heavily on data collected through expert judgement to assess risks on them. Expert judgement are subjective data, fuzzy and so this paper aimed at exploring the application of Fuzzy set theory for an accurate assessment of risk on Federal highway rehabilitation projects in Nigeria. This study undertakes a comprehensive review of literatures and conducted project specific questionnaire survey of sixteen Federal highway rehabilitation projects and the professionals in the client, construction and consulting firms who are directly involved in the execution of the sampled projects. Data collected were subjected to normalisation and Fuzzy inference analysis. Twelve risk factors are found to be significantly leading to time overrun on highway rehabilitation projects. In addition, Fuzzy inference analysis revealed that interest rate fluctuations and unexpected site conditions made 'Large' contribution to poor performance experienced on the highway rehabilitation projects. This is contrary to the medium impact values derived from normalisation. Hence, the results of this study provide a more accurate database of significant risk factors to local highway contractors and guide the foreign contractors wishing to do construction business in Nigeria on SWOT analysis
Pendekatan Fuzzy FMEA Dalam Analisis Faktor Risiko Kecelakaan Kerja
This study aims to identify and analyze the risk factors of work accidents. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fuzzy Logic approach are applied. The information obtained from the workers is expressed using fuzzy linguistics terms, and a FMEA method is proposed to determine the risk priority of failure modes. The results indicate that injuries caused when struck by an object are the highest risk factor of work accident (FRPN = 886). Some work improvements are suggested to reduce or eliminate the work risks
A hybrid approach to fuzzy risk analysis in stock market
The analysis and prediction of stock market has always been well recognized as a difficult problem due to the level of uncertainty and the factors that affect the price. To tackle this challenge problem, this paper proposed a hybrid approach which mines the useful information utilizing grey system and fuzzy risk analysis in stock prices prediction. In this approach, we firstly provide a model which contains the fuzzy function, k-mean algorithm and grey system (shorted for FKG), then provide the model of fuzzy risk analysis (FRA). A practical example to describe the development of FKG and FRA in stock market is given, and the analytical results provide an evaluation of the method which shows promote results. © 2013 IEEE
