Is an Integrated Regional Labor Market Emergin in East and Southeast Asia?
We examine labor market integration in east and southeast Asia (ESEA) during the 1980s, focusing on intraregional labor mobility and on the two other main channels of integration: capital mobility and trade. We find evidence that labor market integration increased sharply among ESEA countries in the 1980s, with 9 percent of ESEA's labor force participating either directly via labor mobility or indirectly via capital mobility or trade in cross-national labor market transactions in 1991, up from just 5.2 percent in 1980. We also find that trade is the dominant mechanism through which regional labor market integration occurred in the 1980s, with labor migration contributing only modestly to the process.
Creation of discrete solitons and observation of the Peierls-Nabarro barrier in Bose-Einstein Condensates
We analyze the generation and mobility of discrete solitons in Bose-Einstein
condensates confined in an optical lattice under realistic experimental
conditions. We discuss first the creation of 1D discrete solitons, for both
attractive and repulsive interatomic interactions. We then address the issue of
their mobility, focusing our attention on the conditions for the experimental
observability of the Peierls-Nabarro barrier. Finally we report on the
generation of self-trapped structures in two and three dimensions. Discrete
solitons may open alternative routes for the manipulation and transport of

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has worked on\ud
network layer mobility for more than 10 years and a number\ud
of RFCs are available by now. Although the IETF mobility\ud
protocols are not present in the Internet infrastructure as of\ud
today, deployment seems to be imminent since a number\ud
of organizations, including 3GPP, 3GPP2 and Wimax, have\ud
realized the need to incorporate these protocols into their architectures.\ud
Deployment scenarios reach from mobility support\ud
within the network of a single provider to mobility support\ud
between different providers and technologies. Current Wimax\ud
specifications, for example, already support Mobile IPv4,\ud
Proxy Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6. Future specifications will\ud
also support Proxy Mobile IPv6. Upcoming specifications in\ud
the 3GPP Evolved Packet Core (EPC) will include the use of\ud
Mobile IPv4, Dual Stack MIPv6 and Proxy Mobile IPv6 for\ud
interworking between 3GPP and non 3GPP networks.\ud

Social exclusion mobility in Spain, 1994-2000
Social exclusion can be defined as a process leading to a state of multiple functioning deprivations. Cross-sectional headcount ratios of social exclusion may overstate the extent of the problem if most individuals do not remain in the same state in successive years. To address this issue, we need to focus on mobility. The Economics of Migration: An Empirical Analysis with Special Referenceto the Role of Job Mobility
This article continues the work on the analysis of the individual's decision to migrate, but differs from the previous studies by focusing on the relationship between job mobility and migration. First, the proportion of geographic mobility that occurs in conjunction with a job change is calculated. Second, it is shown that the true effects of human capital variables, job characteristics, and family variables on the decision to migrate are best measured when one takes account of the relationship between migration and job mobility. Third, the effect of migration on the wage gains of individuals is studied and again the need for distinguishing among moves that were associated with quits, layoffs, and transfers is clearly shown. Finally, by using three data sets that encompass different age groups (the National Longitudinal Surveys [NLS] of Young and Mature Men and the Coleman-Rossi Retrospective Life History Study), the importance of the relationship between migration and job mobility is demonstrated at different points in the life cycle.
Assistive mobility devices focusing on smart walkers : classification and review
In an aging society it is extremely important to develop devices, which can support and aid the elderly in their daily life. This demands means and tools that extend independent living and promote improved health.
Thus, the goal of this article is to review the state of the art in the robotic technology for mobility assistive devices for people with mobility disabilities. The important role that robotics can play in mobility assistive devices is presented, as well as the identification and survey of mobility assistive devices subsystems with a particular focus on the walkers technology. The advances in the walkers’ field have been enormous and have shown a great potential on helping people with mobility disabilities. Thus it is presented a review of the available literature of walkers and are discussed major advances that have been made and limitations to be overcome
Modernity, mobility and the digital divides
The phrase ‘digital divide’ has been crucial over the last ten years in focusing attention and resources on the issues of access to and use of ICT, including e-learning, by a succession of excluded and marginal individuals and communities. Fractional diffusion emulates a human mobility network during a simulated disease outbreak
From footpaths to flight routes, human mobility networks facilitate the
spread of communicable diseases. Control and elimination efforts depend on
characterizing these networks in terms of connections and flux rates of
individuals between contact nodes. In some cases, transport can be
parameterized with gravity-type models or approximated by a diffusive random
walk. As a alternative, we have isolated intranational commercial air traffic
as a case study for the utility of non-diffusive, heavy-tailed transport
models. We implemented new stochastic simulations of a prototypical
influenza-like infection, focusing on the dense, highly-connected United States
air travel network. We show that mobility on this network can be described
mainly by a power law, in agreement with previous studies. Remarkably, we find
that the global evolution of an outbreak on this network is accurately
reproduced by a two-parameter space-fractional diffusion equation, such that
those parameters are determined by the air travel network.Comment: 26 pages, 4 figure
