"Touch me": workshop on tactile user experience evaluation methods

In this workshop we plan to explore the possibilities and challenges of physical objects and materials for evaluating the User Experience (UX) of interactive systems. These objects should face shortfalls of current UX evaluation methods and allow for a qualitative (or even quantitative), playful and holistic evaluation of UX -- without interfering with the users' personal experiences during interaction. This provides a tactile enhancement to a solely visual stimulation as used in classical evaluation methods. The workshop serves as a basis for networking and community building with interested HCI researchers, designers and practitioners and should encourage further development of the field of tactile UX evaluation

Intersectoral mobility and knowledge transfer. Preliminary evidence of the impact of intersectoral mobility policy instruments

This report aims to map the policy measures supporting intersectoral mobility in the Member States and based on the policy measures evaluations analyse the available evidence of their impact. The analysis shows that policies to foster intersectoral mobility are in place in almost all MS. Many of them have been implemented for several years now, yet the readily available evaluations are scarce. The existing evaluations are also often coming short of evaluating the broader socio-economic impact. Yet, the evaluations provide evidence of positive impact of those measures on researchers' skills and employability. To a lesser extent data points to the impact on patents' and publications' propensity and R&D intensity of companies. The strongest evidence is provided in the industrial PhDs evaluations and the impact on skills and employability of PhD researchers can be clearly attested.JRC.B.7-Knowledge for Finance, Innovation and Growt

Burschen und Care-Berufe: Geschlechtersegregation, Barrieren und bewährte Praktiken

Im folgenden Beitrag findet eine eingehende Auseinandersetzung der Autorin mit der Frage statt, was Burschen und junge Männer möglicherweise daran hindert, sich in der Berufswahl für so genannte "Care-Berufe" - gemeint sind weiblich dominierte Berufe in den Bereichen von Erziehung, Betreuung bzw. Fürsorge - zu entscheiden. Abschließend werden bewährte Praktiken vorgestellt, die neue Perspektiven in der Berufswahl und Lebensplanung junger Männer eröffnen können, und zwar abseits der mittlerweile "Ausgetretenen Pfade" traditioneller Männlichkeit. Dabei wird auf die Ergebnisse einer von der Europäischen Kommission in Auftrag gegebenen EU-weiten Studie Bezug genommen, in welcher erstmals die Rolle von Männern im Prozess der Geschlechtergleichstellung in systematischer Weise in allen EU- und EFTA-Ländern erfasst und einer vergleichenden Analyse unterzogen wurde. Die "Study on the Role of Men in Gender Equality" wurde in den Jahren 2011/2012 u. a. unter maßgeblicher Beteiligung österreichischer Partnerorganisationen umgesetzt. Die Ergebnisse wurden in Form eines umfassenden Berichtes veröffentlicht und für Österreich in einer gesonderten Publikation nutzbar gemacht. Diese Publikation gewährt detaillierte Einblicke in die Situation von Männern im Wandel der Geschlechterverhältnisse in Österreich und ermöglicht eine Verortung im internationalen Vergleich. [...

Cultural Change Towards a Gender-Neutral Landscape in Science, Academia and Research in 2025

Austria has a long tradition of gender equality policy measures in science, academia and research. Since the 1980s, a mix of measures has been successively introduced to promote excellent female scientists and academics, establish women’s and gender studies and remove the structural barriers for women. Accordingly, an increase in the share of women in all areas and functions in science, academia and research and the inclusion of gender studies in an increasing number of disciplines has been achieved in recent years. Despite this, the notion of the “scientific ideal” has remained almost unchanged, i.e. is still based on a typically male scientific career. This notion essentially considers a “good” scientist to be one who can devote his life totally to science and has no other restrictions on his time or commitments outside science. The question now is, what – and where – can we add to the existing policy mix to change this situation, i.e. to revise this notion of the “ideal”. At a series of workshops, researchers, academics and other experts used creative methods to develop their visions of a gender-neutral landscape in science, academia and research in 2025. These visions were then used to identify relevant fields of action for initiating cultural change. Man muss 120% leisten, dann hat man keine Schwierigkeiten': Studie zur Situation von Frauen in technischen Berufen in Oberösterreich

Noch immer ist die Situation von Frauen in technischen Berufen eine besondere und die Wahl eines technischen Ausbildungsweges für Frauen nicht selbstverständlich. Auch nach erfolgreich abgeschlossener Ausbildung und erfolgtem Einstieg in ein technisches Berufsfeld ist die Situation von Frauen - bezogen beispielsweise auf die berufliche Positionierung, die Einkommensentwicklung, das Selbstverständnis oder die Aufstiegsmöglichkeiten - oft anders als jene der Männer. Vor diesem Hintergrund hat sich L&R Sozialforschung im Auftrag des AMS Oberösterreich näher mit der Situation von 'Frauen in technischen Berufen in Oberösterreich' auseinandergesetz
