Fast scalable cloud platform for electromagnetic modeling

    No full text
The Electromagnetic Modeling (EM) is a mathematical technique widely used by company and scientists for the design of aircraft, satellites, ships and automobiles. Since the complexity and the level of details of the analyzed structures are typically very high, for running EM modeling software a huge quantity of computational resources is required, both in terms of memory and CPUs. On the other hand, companies would like to be able to analyze EM impact, based on accurate models that corresponding to reality, entirely by software avoiding the creation and measure of real hardware prototypes, therefore reducing time and cost required for the planning stages. For these reasons the development of accurate and efficient EM models, together with an appropriate use of computational resources is a research topic with a strong industrial interest. In this paper, authors' present the work done in the project 'Cloud Fast Scalable EM Modeling - CloudCEM' [partially funded by POR/FESR of Piedmont Region (2007-2013)]. CloudCEM proposes Cloud Computing technology for the solution of EM problems in order to reduce processing time, reduce costs and optimize computing resources
