Content-based Video Retrieval by Integrating Spatio-Temporal and Stochastic Recognition of Events
As amounts of publicly available video data grow the need to query this data efficiently becomes significant. Consequently content-based retrieval of video data turns out to be a challenging and important problem. We address the specific aspect of inferring semantics automatically from raw video data. In particular, we introduce a new video data model that supports the integrated use of two different approaches for mapping low-level features to high-level concepts. Firstly, the model is extended with a rule-based approach that supports spatio-temporal formalization of high-level concepts, and then with a stochastic approach. Extracting Event Dynamics from Event-by-Event Analysis
The problem of eliminating the statistical fluctuations and extracting the
event dynamics from event-by-event analysis is discussed. New moments
(for continuous distribution), and (for anomalous distribution) are
proposed, which are experimentally measurable and can eliminate the Poissonian
type statistical fluctuations to recover the dynamical moments and
. In this way, the dynamical distribution of the event-averaged
transverse momentum \bar{\pt} can be extracted, and the anomalous scaling of
dynamical distribution, if exists, can be recovered, through event-by-event

Event-by-event fluctuations and the QGP
We discuss the physics underlying event-by-event fluctuations in relativistic
heavy ion collisions. We will emphasize how the fluctuations of particle ratios
can be utilized to explore the properties of the matter created in these
collisions. In particular, we will argue that the fluctutions of the ratio of
positively over negatively charged particles may serve as a unique signature

Event-by-event fluctuations in collective quantities
We discuss an event-by-event fluctuation analysis of particle production in
heavy ion collisions. We compare different approaches to the evaluation of the
event-by-event dynamical fluctuations in quantities defined on groups of
particles, such quantities as mean transverse momentum, transverse momentum
spectra slope, strength of anisotropic flow, etc.. The direct computation of
the dynamical fluctuations and the sub-event method are discussed in more
detail. We also show how the fluctuation in different variables can be related

Elliptic flow from event-by-event hydrodynamics
We present an event-by-event hydrodynamical framework which takes into
account the initial density fluctuations arising from a Monte Carlo Glauber
model. The elliptic flow is calculated with the event plane method and a
one-to-one comparison with the measured event plane is made. Both the
centrality- and -dependence of the are remarkably well reproduced.
We also find that the participant plane is a quite good approximation for the
