Box-level Segmentation Supervised Deep Neural Networks for Accurate and Real-time Multispectral Pedestrian Detection
Effective fusion of complementary information captured by multi-modal sensors
(visible and infrared cameras) enables robust pedestrian detection under
various surveillance situations (e.g. daytime and nighttime). In this paper, we
present a novel box-level segmentation supervised learning framework for
accurate and real-time multispectral pedestrian detection by incorporating
features extracted in visible and infrared channels. Specifically, our method
takes pairs of aligned visible and infrared images with easily obtained
bounding box annotations as input and estimates accurate prediction maps to
highlight the existence of pedestrians. It offers two major advantages over the
existing anchor box based multispectral detection methods. Firstly, it
overcomes the hyperparameter setting problem occurred during the training phase
of anchor box based detectors and can obtain more accurate detection results,
especially for small and occluded pedestrian instances. Secondly, it is capable
of generating accurate detection results using small-size input images, leading
to improvement of computational efficiency for real-time autonomous driving
applications. Experimental results on KAIST multispectral dataset show that our
proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in terms of both
accuracy and speed

Multispectral images of peach related to firmness and maturity at harvest
wo multispectral maturity classifications for red soft-flesh peaches (âKingcrestâ, âRubyrichâ and âRichladyâ n = 260) are proposed and compared based on R (red) and R/IR (red divided by infrared) images obtained with a three CCD camera (800 nm, 675 nm and 450 nm). R/IR histograms were able to correct the effect of 3D shape on light reflectance and thus more Gaussian histograms were produced than R images. As fruits ripened, the R/IR histograms showed increasing levels of intensity. Reference measurements such as firmness and visible spectra also varied significantly as the fruit ripens, firmness decreased while reflectance at 680 nm increased (chlorophyll absorption peak)
High-resolution optical and SAR image fusion for building database updating
This paper addresses the issue of cartographic database (DB) creation or updating using high-resolution synthetic aperture radar and optical images. In cartographic applications, objects of interest are mainly buildings and roads. This paper proposes a processing chain to create or update building DBs. The approach is composed of two steps. First, if a DB is available, the presence of each DB object is checked in the images. Then, we verify if objects coming from an image segmentation should be included in the DB. To do those two steps, relevant features are extracted from images in the neighborhood of the considered object. The object removal/inclusion in the DB is based on a score obtained by the fusion of features in the framework of DempsterâShafer evidence theory
Satellite Image Fusion in Various Domains
In order to find out the fusion algorithm which is best suited for the panchromatic and multispectral images, fusion algorithms, such as PCA and wavelet algorithms have been employed and analyzed. In this paper, performance evaluation criteria are also used for quantitative assessment of the fusion performance. The spectral quality of fused images is evaluated by the ERGAS and Q4. The analysis indicates that the DWT fusion scheme has the best definition as well as spectral fidelity, and has better performance with regard to the high textural information absorption. Therefore, as the study area is concerned, it is most suited for the panchromatic and multispectral image fusion. an image fusion algorithm based on wavelet transform is proposed for Multispectral and panchromatic satellite image by using fusion in spatial and transform domains. In the proposed scheme, the images to be processed are decomposed into sub-images with the same resolution at same levels and different resolution at different levels and then the information fusion is performed using high-frequency sub-images under the Multi-resolution image fusion scheme based on wavelets produces better fused image than that by the MS or WA schemes
Aerial Vehicle Tracking by Adaptive Fusion of Hyperspectral Likelihood Maps
Hyperspectral cameras can provide unique spectral signatures for consistently
distinguishing materials that can be used to solve surveillance tasks. In this
paper, we propose a novel real-time hyperspectral likelihood maps-aided
tracking method (HLT) inspired by an adaptive hyperspectral sensor. A moving
object tracking system generally consists of registration, object detection,
and tracking modules. We focus on the target detection part and remove the
necessity to build any offline classifiers and tune a large amount of
hyperparameters, instead learning a generative target model in an online manner
for hyperspectral channels ranging from visible to infrared wavelengths. The
key idea is that, our adaptive fusion method can combine likelihood maps from
multiple bands of hyperspectral imagery into one single more distinctive
representation increasing the margin between mean value of foreground and
background pixels in the fused map. Experimental results show that the HLT not
only outperforms all established fusion methods but is on par with the current
state-of-the-art hyperspectral target tracking frameworks.Comment: Accepted at the International Conference on Computer Vision and
