Spectral Evidence for Emergent Order in BaNaFeAs
We report an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of the
iron-based superconductor family, BaNaFeAs. This system
harbors the recently discovered double-Q magnetic order appearing in a
reentrant C phase deep within the underdoped regime of the phase diagram
that is otherwise dominated by the coupled nematic phase and collinear
antiferromagnetic order. From a detailed temperature-dependence study, we
identify the electronic response to the nematic phase in an orbital-dependent
band shift that strictly follows the rotational symmetry of the lattice and
disappears when the system restores C symmetry in the low temperature
phase. In addition, we report the observation of a distinct electronic
reconstruction that cannot be explained by the known electronic orders in the
system
Large Negative Electronic Compressibility of LaAlO3-SrTiO3 Interfaces with Ultrathin LaAlO3 Layers
A two-dimensional electron liquid is formed at the n-type interface between
SrTiO3 and LaAlO3. Here we report on Kelvin probe microscopy measurements of
the electronic compressibility of this electron system. The electronic
compressibility is found to be negative for carrier densities of
\approx10^13/cm^2. At even smaller densities, a metal-to-insulator transition
occurs. These local measurements corroborate earlier measurements of the
electronic compressibility of LaAlO3-SrTiO3 interfaces obtained by measuring
the capacitance of macroscopic metal-LaAlO3-SrTiO3 capacitors
Thermal Conductivity of superconducting (TMTSF)_2ClO_4: evidence for a nodeless gap
We report on the first measurements of thermal conductivity in the
superconducting state of (TMTSF)_2ClO_4. The electronic contribution to heat
transport is found to decrease rapidly below T_c, indicating the absence of
low-energy electronic excitations. We argue that this result provides strong
evidence for a nodeless superconducting gap function but does not exclude a
possible unconventional order parameter.Comment: 4 pages including 4 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
