    Actualizing the Business English Course by Using an E-Commerce Platform

    The rapid development of digital technology has become a trigger for educators to create and demonstrate up-to-date yet flexible learning methods. Educators are challenged to integrate lessons with the medium of available technology. In this study, the researcher encourages students to engage in real business (buying and selling) activities by utilizing electronic commerce (e-commerce) platform to actualize the purpose of the Business English course. The descriptive qualitative method used employs questionnaires for data collection. The objectives of this study are: to find out the role of e-commerce platforms in Business English learning and the student’s course achievement. Since this learning integration is experiential to the students, the researchers adopt the concept of experiential learning by Wolfe & Byrne with several adjusted phases, grouping, designing, conducting, transaction, final report, evaluation, and feedback. Thus, the results showed that the students gave positive feedback towards the e-commerce project and the students gained a lot of course achievements such as real business experience, the ability to operate e-commerce platforms, selling, promotion, marketing knowledge, and teamwork management since the e-commerce platform was employed in the Business English course. This research might be advantageous for enhancing and evaluating the running and the upcoming Business English course. Meanwhile, this project would be a fostering supplement for the students to grow their entrepreneurial spirit in the future

    Research Trends in the Last 3 years Related to Distance Education : A Bibliometric Study

    This study aims to analyze the research trends related to distance education over the past three years by examining the publication patterns and key topics within the field. This study used a quantitative descriptive research approach with a bibliometric method. Data was collected through the Scopus database with the keyword "Distance learning" by searching for journals based on keywords, article titles, and abstracts with the condition of publications in 2020-2022. The software used in data analysis in this study was the Bibliometrix R-Package, which was part of R-Studio. A total of 1936 articles were found and analyzed. The study results showed that the number of articles related to distance education has been increasing each year, with a growing trend from 2020 to 2022. The study analyzed the top journals, affiliations, and countries publishing articles and identified the most productive authors and relevant affiliations. The trend topics discussed were social media, distance learning, and learning analytics, with new topics emerging in 2021, such as university students, motivation, and Covid-19. Theme classifications were divided into two, connected by blue and red lines. The study also identified future research opportunities using a thematic map

    Distance learning system, as an important teaching means, demonstrates the gradual maturity and penetration of technology in the teaching practice of disciplines. This paper proposes an application of distance learning for an e-commerce curriculum. First, this paper forwards the implication of distance learning system and its superiority, and further the system based on the SNS social interaction mode to address the limitations of existing distance learning systems by the advantages of the SNS social interaction mode. Second, the distance learning system is applied for an e-commerce curriculum. In accordance with the requirements of an e-commerce curriculum, the distance learning system and user frameworks are designed. The experiment adopts multiple evaluation indexes, and then utilizes the linear regression evaluation methodology for result assessment. Result shows that students in the experimental group under the distance learning system teaching mode are superior to students in the control group in terms of various indexes and comprehensive evaluation
