    Proposal of a Quasi-Experiment for studying the effect of experience on elicitation effectiveness

    We plan to perform a quasi experiment to evaluate the effect of experience on requirements elicitation. Researchers will play the role of customers, whereas participants will perform the role of analysts. Analysts will hold a 60 minute interview and will then be given 25 minutes to write up a report of their findings. Participant effectiveness will be compared with available data series on the effectiveness of novice analysts that we have collected previously

    Context: Empirical Software Engineering (ESE) replication researchers need to store and manipulate experimental data for several purposes, in particular analysis and reporting. Current research needs call for sharing and preservation of experimental data as well. In a previous work, we analyzed Replication Data Management (RDM) needs. A novel concept, called Experimental Ecosystem, was proposed to solve current deficiencies in RDM approaches. The empirical ecosystem provides replication researchers with a common framework that integrates transparently local heterogeneous data sources. A typical situation where the Empirical Ecosystem is applicable, is when several members of a research group, or several research groups collaborating together, need to share and access each other experimental results. However, to be able to apply the Empirical Ecosystem concept and deliver all promised benefits, it is necessary to analyze the software architectures and tools that can properly support it

    Inspection techniques are strategies for analysing software artefacts. These techniques provide guidelines for examining the software documentation and identifying defects. These guidelines consist of a series of heuristics to help reviewers to read and understand the artefact that they are analysing.     A Review of Critical Factors for Communicating With Customers on Social Networking Sites

    This paper undertakes a systematic review to gain insight into existing studies on the application of Social Network Sites (SNS). Our systematic review of studies from 1995 to 2012 examines the background and trend of research in the area and provides critical factors that organizations should consider for effectively use social networking sites to communicate with their customers. We note a huge growth in the number of academic papers on the topic since 1998. Seventeen factors were identified as a result of review, which shaped two main themes: (i) A customercentric organizational culture, and (ii) SNS Know-How. The findings show that for a successful and effective use of SNSs, and in particular Facebook, a combination of good understanding of SNSs tools and capabilities as well as a constant and transparent relationship with customers are essential.     Software industry experiments: a systematic literature review

    There is no specialized survey of experiments conducted in the software industry. Goal: Identify the major features of software industry experiments, such as time distribution, independent and dependent variables, subject types, design types and challenges. Method: Systematic literature review, taking the form of a scoping study. Results: We have identified 10 experiments and five quasi-experiments up to July 2012. Most were run as of 2003. The main features of these studies are that they test technologies related to quality and management and analyse outcomes related to effectiveness and effort. Most experiments have a factorial design. The major challenges faced by experimenters are to minimize the cost of running the experiment for the company and to schedule the experiment so as not to interfere with production processes

    Revisiones Sistemáticas: Recomendaciones para un Proceso Adecuado a la Ingeniería del Software

    En la actualidad, se han realizado varias revisiones sistemáticas en Ingeniería del Software y la tendencia señala que su número irá en aumento en el futuro inmediato. La práctica totalidad de las revisiones se realizan siguiendo alguna de las recomendaciones existentes, tales como las propuestas por Kitchenham, Biolchini y otros. Sin embargo, dichas recomendaciones pasan por alto una serie de carencias específicas de la experimentación en Ingeniería del Software, tales como carencias en la formación de los revisores o disponibilidad de información detallada acerca de los estudios primarios, que inducen problemas a la hora de realizar la revisión. Como resultado de analizar nuestro desempeño en la realización de varias revisiones, los autores hemos identificado diversas disfunciones. Tras su catalogación y análisis se han derivado recomendaciones para mejorar los procedimientos de revisión sistemática en Ingeniería del Software
