On cosmic rotation
We overview our recent studies of cosmological models with expansion and
global rotation. Problems of the early rotating models are discussed, and the
class of new viable cosmologies is described in detail. Particular attention is
paid to the observational effects of the cosmic rotation.Comment: 22 pages, Revte
Note on Varying Speed of Light Cosmologies
The various requirements on a consistent varying speed of light (`VSL')
theory are surveyed, giving a short check-list of issues that should be
satisfactorily handled by such theories.Comment: 6 pages; to appear in the GRG Journa
Quantum gravity effects on the thermodynamic stability of 4D Schwarzschild black hole
Based on the Euclidean approach, we consider the effects of quantum gravity
and mass-less matter on the thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild black
hole. The techniques of effective field theory are utilized to analytically
construct the partition function at the one-loop level. Using the non-local
heat kernel formalism, the partition function is expressed as a curvature
expansion. We extensively discuss the effect of the corrections on the
thermodynamic stability. The one-loop free energy shows, remarkably, that a
large number of gauge fields is able to render Schwarzschild black hole
thermodynamically stable. The black hole mass at which stability is achieved
scales as in Planck units, where is the number of gauge fields,
and is independent of any UV completion of quantum gravity.Comment: Accepted for publication in JHEP; 20 pages, 4 figures, few minor
