. LOGFLOW is a distributed Prolog system running on multi-transputer machines and workstation clusters. It is based on the dataflow principle. The most recent database management systems prefer shared-nothing architectures and dataflow execution mechanism because of their promising features. In this paper LOGFLOW is examined from the database point of view. Both relational and deductive DBMSs can be parallelized by the use of the parallel engine of LOGFLOW. Keywords: Parallel Database Management Systems, Distributed Prolog System, Data flow. 1. Introduction The conventional sequential database systems have reached the limit of their possibilities. Nowadays, their performance is not enough for working with the rapidly growing information volumes. Particularly, the problems arise about serving many queries with short response time and answering very complex queries on very large databases. The progress in hardware technology cannot provide sufficiently fast and high-capacity elements ..
