\u27Yes!\u27 and \u27thou\u27 in Dag Hammarskjold\u27s Markings : A theological investigation
Hammarskjöldâs Markings combines the spiritual, theological and ethical. This article engages with the journal in four stages. First, it briefly introduces the text (context, translation and overall purpose). Second, I explore Hammarskjöldâs faith guided by two words: âYesâ- to explore key ideas on union, discipleship, the âbeyond,â religious language, his use of the medieval mystics and the influence of the apophatic and kataphatic traditions on his consciousness. Third, under âThou,â follows an examination of this wordâs role in Hammarskjöldâs religious awareness and, also, of the journalâs convergences with other authors, such as Bernard Haring and Andrew Tallonâs analysis of Martin Buberâs âI-Thou and the sapiential ethics of Thomas Aquinas. Finally, I briefly assess Markings and Hammarskjöldâs religious consciousness as Trinitarian and as indicative of the transforming process of theosis
Wisdom as loving knowledge in Dag Hammarskjold\u27s Markings
The inter-relationship of the affective and the cognitive is an issue in the spiritual and moral fields of the Christian tradition. Drawing on the analogical use of the âspiritual sensesâ together with insights from virtue ethics, this article investigates wisdom as loving knowledge in Dag Hammarskjöldâs Markings. The article has five stages: first, the various forms of love present in Hammarskjöldâs reflections are outlined; second, after a brief explanation of affective/cognitive aspect of the spiritual senses, it probes a representative text in Marking on the process of knowing and loving God; third, it analyses key passages in the journal concerning wisdom as a virtue; fourth, in the light of the theology of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and contemporary approaches based on the second-person perspective, the Gift of wisdom is examined in the journal leading to some concluding observations

What\u27s Sex Got to Do with It? Challenges for Incorporating Sexuality into Family Planning Programs
In February 1996, IPPF/WHR and the Population Councilâs Ebert Program on Critical Issues in Reproductive Health jointly hosted a meeting on the challenge of incorporating sexuality into family planning. This report was compiled after organizers concluded that the ideas and strategies presented during the meeting merited wider recognition and debate within the family planning field. The meeting examined five myths that have prevented family planning and reproductive health services from dealing directly with issues of sexuality and gender. The report draws principally on the discussions from the meeting as well as on the perspectives of the organizers. The authors hope that this report will encourage others in the field to think about how to offer family planning and reproductive health services in ways that promote individualsâ ability to identify and meet their sexual health needs and in ways that enhance equality between intimate partners. By dealing more openly with issues such as pleasure and power, family planning and reproductive health programs will better serve their current clients and attract many new ones
