The compatible conversion system
Compatible conversion system centralizes the solution of general problems arising from the use of direct access mass storage. It also provides a simple stable interface for the conversion of production programs to process on third generation computer system
EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF A 90 DEG FLAT-PLATE MAGNETIC TRIODE FOR DIRECT ENERGY CONVERSION

Inner-shell ionization induced by nuclear Coulomb excitation in collisions of very heavy ions
K- and L-shell ionization of 238U with Xe and U projectiles is investigated. Internal conversion following nuclear Coulomb excitation which is particularly important for deformed heavy nuclei is compared with direct ionization of inner-shell electrons in superheavy quasimolecules. Both processes exhibit different impact-parameter dependences. As a result of internal conversion, about 0.1-0.3 K holes per central collision are created
In-beam internal conversion electron spectroscopy with the SPICE detector
The SPectrometer for Internal Conversion Electrons (SPICE) has been
commissioned for use in conjunction with the TIGRESS -ray spectrometer
at TRIUMF's ISAC-II facility. SPICE features a permanent rare-earth magnetic
lens to collect and direct internal conversion electrons emitted from nuclear
reactions to a thick, highly segmented, lithium-drifted silicon detector. This
arrangement, combined with TIGRESS, enables in-beam -ray and internal
conversion electron spectroscopy to be performed with stable and radioactive
ion beams. Technical aspects of the device, capabilities, and initial
performance are presented
Equalization of Third-Order Intermodulation Products in Wideband Direct Conversion Receivers
This paper reports a SAW-less direct-conversion receiver which utilizes a mixed-signal feedforward path to regenerate and adaptively cancel IM3 products, thus accomplishing system-level linearization. The receiver system performance is dominated by a custom integrated RF front end implemented in 130-nm CMOS and achieves an uncorrected out-of-band IIP3 of -7.1 dBm under the worst-case UMTS FDD Region 1 blocking specifications. Under IM3 equalization, the receiver achieves an effective IIP3 of +5.3 dBm and meets the UMTS BER sensitivity requirement with 3.7 dB of margin
Direct methane conversion to methanol by ionic liquid-dissolved platinum catalysts
Ternary systems of inorganic Pt salts and oxides, ionic liquids and concentrated sulfuric acid are effective at catalyzing the direct, selective oxidation of methane to methanol and appear to be more water tolerant than the Catalytica reaction
Religious conversion : historical aspects and modern perspective
Religious conversion has become a dangerous social and individual problem. In Latin America, a traditional Catholic area, Protestant sects are successfully con-verting more and more Catholics into their own communities. Therefore the Pope demands a strict control of these activities. In India e.g., the Catholic hierarchy is critizising the Indian governments which have forbidden conversion on non-spiritual reasons. Hindu organizations have started even very successfully to re-convert Indian Christians particularly of Dalit and tribal background. Buddhists are very successful in indirect and even direct conversion of many Westerners. Wah-habit missionaries spread their Neo-Islam in the Muslim societies and get more and more even non-Muslim converts. We should add the forcible and sometimes ex-tremely cruel conversions the atheistic states had executed since the last century. ..
