    PENGARUH KONSENTRASI IAA DAN BAP TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN PERKEMBANGAN TANAMAN KUNIR PUTIH(Kaempferia rotunda L.) SECARA IN VITRO

    The aims of this research was to examine the effect of IAA and BAP on the growth and development of kunir putih (Kaempferia rotunda L.) in vitro. The research was conducted at LaboratoryTissue Culture, Labo- The research used Factorial Completely Design with 2 factors: IAA (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 ppm) and BAP (0, 2, 4, and 6 ppm) and 3 replications. The result showed that IAA gave more fast in initially roots, increase roots number and increase the length of roots. At 1.5 ppm of IAA without BAP provided the highest roots number and fastest initially root. The increasing concentration of BAP untill 6 ppm increased shoots number and leaf number. Interaction between IAA and BAP influence only for plant heigh. At 1.5 ppm of IAA and 4 ppm of BAP gave the best performance of plantlet.     EFEKTIFITAS PENAMBAHAN TEPUNG RIMPANG TEMULAWAK (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb ) DAN TEMU PUTIH (Curcuma zedoria Rosc) DALAM RANSUM TERHADAP High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) DAN BERAT ORGAN DALAM PADA AYAM BROILER

    An experiment was conducted to examine the effectiveness of curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb and curcuma zedoria Rosc flours added in Ration on High density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and the viscera of broiler. Fifty-four of broiler CP 707® strain were used in this experiment and they were placed into cages (60cm x 45cm x 45cm), 3 birds per cage. There were 18 bulb lamp of 25 watt above each cages. Randomized completely design were used in this experiment; 3 treatments and 6 repetitions. The three treatments were R0 (ration without Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb and Curcuma zedoria Rosc flours ration with), R1 (ration with 2% of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb flours added in ration, and R2 (2% of Curcuma zedoria Rosc flours). The blood HDL level of broilers in this experiment were 133,58mg/dl (R0), 113,33mg/dl (R2) and 109mg/dl (R1), respectively. The blood LDL level of broiler were 45,66mg/dl (R0), 56,33mg/dl (R2) and 64,66mg/dl (R1), respectively. By using Chi square test, it showed that, there was a relations of addition of 2% of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb and Curcuma zedoria Rosc flours in ration with blood HDL level. However, there was not a relation of addition of 2% of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb and Curcuma zedoria Rosc flour in ration with blood LDL level. In short, the addition of 2% of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb and Curcuma zedoria Rosc flours in ration were not efectively increased the level of HDL and not efectively decreased the level of LDL in blood. Furthermore, the percentage of gizard weight, percentage of pancreas weight, percentage of small and large intestine weight of broiler in this experiment were not significantly different between treatments (P>0,05)

    Formulasi dan Aktivitas Antibakteri Gel Hand Sanitizer Ekstrak Air Daun Sirih Merah

    Latar Belakang: Tuntutan zaman mengharuskan manusia untuk menjaga kesehatannya agar terhindar dari penyakit. Salah satunya dengan menggunakan pembersih tangan. Hand sanitizer hadir sebagai solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Dari berbagai penelitian diketahui bahwa daun sirih merah mengandung senyawa-senyawa antibakteri flavonoid, alkaloid senyawa polifenol, tanin dan minyak atsiri. Tujuan: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui daya antiseptik gel hand sanitizer dengan bahan aktif ekstrak air daun sirih merah dalam empat formula (63,53%; 67,39%; 67,74% and 68,79%). Metode: Metode yang digunakan yaitu Metode replika secara in vivo dengan modifikasi. Selanjutnya dihitung jumlah mikroba yang masih hidup setelah pemberian hand sanitizer. Gel hand sanitizer yang dibuat dibandingkan daya antiseptiknya terhadap sediaan gel hand sanitizer yang ada di pasaran dengan bahan aktif alkohol 60%. Hasil penelitian: Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan semakin besar konsentrasi ekstrak maka kemampuan untuk mengurangi jumlah mikroba semakin besar. Hasil pengujian pada F4 (formula ke 4) menunjukkan kemampuan dalam mengurangi jumlah mikroba lebih besar yaitu 68,79% dibandingkan pada F1, F2 dan F3 yaitu 63,53%, 67,39% dan 67,74%. Basis gel sendiri mempunyai kemampuan dalam mengurangi jumlah mikroba sebesar 25,31%. Sedangkan pembanding, sediaan hand sanitizer berbahan aktif alkohol 60% yang ada di pasaran mampu mengurangi jumlah mikroba sebesar 82,46%. Kesimpulan: Dapat disimpulkan sediaan hand sanitizer berbahan aktif ekstrak air daun sirih merah dalam berbagai konsentrasi mempunyai efektivitas antiseptik cukup baik, namun lebih rendah dibandingkan sediaan pembanding berbahan aktif alkohol 60% yang ada di pasaran

    Kunyit (Curcuma longa, Linn) merupakan salah satu herbal yang sering digunakan sebagai bumbu, pengawet maupun pewarna makanan. Senyawa utama ekstrak kunyit adalah kurkumin.yang memberikan warna kuning yang khas. Telah banyak dilakukan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan efek biologik dan aksi farmakologiknya, seperti antiinflamasi, antikanker, antioksidan dan antifertilitas.Dalam makalah ini akan dipaparkan mengenai efek kurkumin terhadap sistem reproduksi, khususnya sebagai antiferlitas. Pada sistem reproduksi pria/jantan kurkumin menghambat kualitas spema seperti motilitas, viabilitas sperma, kapasitasi, reaksi akrosom, dan meningkatkan morfologi sperma abnormal. Kurkumin juga dapat melindungi dampak negatif alkohol, potasium dikromat, kadmium, metronidazol terhadap testis, kualitas sperma dan produksi hormon testosteron. Pada sistem reproduksi wanita/betina kurkumin dapat menghambat ovulasi, implantasi, dan produksi hormon FSH, LH, estrogen maupun progesteron. Selain itu kurkumin dapat memblok siklus estrus dan menimbulkan Perubahan biokimiawi pada cairan uterus. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kurkumin memiliki potensi dalam pengendalian kesuburan khususnya sebagai bahan antifertilitas baik pria maupunwanita. Efek antifertilitas kurkumin bersifat reversibel

    Wound Healing Plants of Jalgaon District of Maharashtra State, India

    Jalgaon District of Maharashtra state (India) has a great heritage and rich in various green and semi evergreen species. Record of 3347 species from 201 families appeared in earlier literature from Jalgaon District. A list of 283 wound healing plants of Indian origin is compiled; out of these 224 plants are native of Maharashtra, a 131 plants among them occurred in Jalgaon District, which are in practice by local herbalist, Vaidyas and nonregistered medical practitioners and Mukhiya (Head) of tribal community. Taxonomical distribution showed 93.63% dicot and 6.37% monocot and a single aquatic plant. The investigation revealed that wound healing natural products usually localized in root (27% ) \u3e leaves (20%) \u3e stem \u3e seed \u3e whole plant \u3e fruit \u3e flower \u3e rhizome \u3e tuber \u3e shoot \u3e stamen \u3e grain \u3e gall \u3e filament and plant product like latex (46%), oil (40%) , gum and resin (7%) as evident from this survey. Most of the remedies consisted of either single plant part or combination. Methods of preparation varies and they are species specific viz: plant parts applied as a paste, juice extracted from the fresh plant parts, powder made from fresh or dried plant parts, some fresh plant parts, and decoction. In this study the most dominant family was Leguminosae and roots were most frequently used for wound healing. Here an attempt has also been made to work out on plants belonging to Jalgaon District in order to exploit them for preparation of ointment that can be used both in human and domestic animals

    Zingiberaceae is a family of ginger plants found in the forest area of Mount Bua Kerinci. However, many species of the family have not been properly identified. This research aims to find out the type of family Zingiberaceae in the forest of Mount Bua Hill. This type of research is qualitative research with exploratory survey methods. The data collection techniques used are observation and documentation.     Determination of Total Levels of White Turmeric Flavonoids (Curcuma zedoria Rosc.) with Variation of Solvent Types. White turmeric (Curcuma zedoria Rosc.) is a herbal plant that has many health benefits in healing several diseases. It can grow wild in the open with moist soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the total levels of white turmeric flavonoids with various types of solvents. The solvents used in were water and ethanol. The quantitative test of flavonoids in the White Turmeric extract used a quercetin standard solution curve. The samples were analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a maximum wavelength of 435 nm.     The Optimization of Sodium Alginate and Propylene Glycol in Antioxidant Gel Formulation Containing White Turmeric Extract (Curcuma zedoaria)

    Temu putih rhizome (Curcuma zedoaria) has an antioxidant activity. This study aimed to optimize the combination of sodium alginate and propylene glycol in gel formulations and compare the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract and gel form. Gel formulations were developed using a Simplex Lattice Design, with varying ratios of sodium alginate (A) and propylene glycol (B): F1 (3% A:8% B), F2 (2% A:9% B), F3 (2.5% A:8.5% B), F4 (1% A:10% B), and F5 (1.5% A:9.5% B). Physical properties were evaluated to determine the optimal formula using Design Expert version 13 and one-sample t-test. Antioxidant activity was assessed via the DPPH method. Results showed that sodium alginate increased viscosity and adhesiveness, while propylene glycol improved spreadability and pH. The optimal formulation contained 2.98% sodium alginate and 8% propylene glycol. The ethanol extract and gel showed IC50 values of 50.169 ppm and 67.675 ppm, respectively.Rimpang Temu putih (Curcuma zedoaria) diteliti mempunyai aktivitas farmakologis sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kombinasi optimal natrium alginat dan propilen glikol terhadap sifat fisik gel serta membandingkan nilai IC50 antara ekstrak etanol rimpang temu putih dan sediaan gel ekstrak rimpang temu putih. Maserasi dipilih sebagai metode ekstraksi senyawa aktif temu putih. Formulasi gel dirancang menggunakan metode Simplex Lattice Design, menghasilkan lima formula dengan variasi perbandingan natrium alginat (A) dan propilen glikol (B), yaitu: F1 (3% A:8% B), F2 (2% A:9% B), F3 (2,5% A:8,5% B), F4 (1% A:10% B), dan F5 (1,5% A:9,5% B). Setiap formula diuji secara fisik untuk menentukan formula optimal menggunakan software Design Expert ver. 13, dan hasil uji tersebut dibandingkan melalui uji statistik one-sample t-test. Aktivitas antioksidan dievaluasi dengan metode DPPH. Studi ini menemukan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi natrium alginat memperkuat viskositas dan daya lekat gel, sementara peningkatan propilen glikol memperbaiki daya sebar dan pH. Formula gel optimal diperoleh dengan perbandingan 2,98% natrium alginat dan 8% propilen glikol. Ekstrak etanol rimpang temu putih menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan yang signifikan dengan nilai IC50 50,169 ppm, sedangkan gel ekstrak temu putih memiliki nilai IC50 67,675 ppm

    Effect of dried extract Curcuma zedoria. Rosc. orally on the some parameters of kidney function of male rat

    Curcuma zedoria Rosc. has been used empirically for cancer medicine and usually used for long periods. The aim of this study is to assess the effects of dried extract Curcuma zedoria. Rosc. orally on kidney function of male rat for 12 weeks exposure. Eighty male rat (180-200g) were divided into four group, group 1 as a control group, group 2, 3 and 4 were given 9mg/200g body weight, 18 mg/200g bw and 27mg/200g bw respectively. Dried extract of Curcuma zedoria Rosc. was given daily for 12 weeks periods, serum, urine, and kidney samples were collected by killing of 5 rats in each group on week 4, 8, 12 and 16 respectively. Serum, and urine samples were analyze for creatinine,pH, specific gravity and morphological and histological of the kidney were also observed respectivelyThe results indicated that serum, and creatinine content, pH and specific gravity of urine were not significantly different between control and treatment group of dosage and time of exposure (P>0.05). From the results can be concluded that dried Curcuma zedoria Rosc. given orally at the dosage up to 27mg/200g bw for long periods was safe for male rats and safely to use as a traditional medicine given at the long periods of time.Key words: Curcuma zedoria.
