Music as Evidence for a Creator

    Get PDF
Throughout history, mankind has made music. While music is artistic, it is also scientific and informed by natural occurrences within the physical world. Mathematical relationships between frequencies, the harmonic series, the materials necessary to build musical instruments, and naturally measured time provide bases for the musical elements of pitch, timbre, and rhythm. Though scientific discovery can inform the practice of music, the origin of music cannot be explained through scientific or evolutionary means because music is not a necessity for survival. The fact that music does exist and has natural bases suggests that music is designed, and its elements were placed in the physical world by a Creator who is beyond that which is physical

Weakening the Isolation Assumption of Tamper-proof Hardware Tokens

    Get PDF
Recent results have shown the usefulness of tamper-proof hardware tokens as a setup assumption for building UC-secure two-party computation protocols, thus providing broad security guarantees and allowing the use of such protocols as buildings blocks in the modular design of complex cryptography protocols. All these works have in common that they assume the tokens to be completely isolated from their creator, but this is a strong assumption. In this work we investigate the feasibility of cryptographic protocols in the setting where the isolation of the hardware token is weakened. We consider two cases: (1) the token can relay messages to its creator, or (2) the creator can send messages to the token after it is sent to the receiver. We provide a detailed characterization for both settings, presenting both impossibilities and information-theoretically secure solutions

Beauty (Essay 8 of Seeing: When Art and Faith Intersect)

Excerpt: Beauty as a concept has given twentieth century writers, especially art critics and art historians, a great deal of difficulty. Why is this so?Answering would take several volumes--! will settle for less. The traditional idea of beauty has all the trappings of a universal concept. For Plato, one of the earliest and most prominent supporters of such universals, beauty, along with other concepts, had the mind of the creator as its source. For much of Christianity\u27s existence Plato\u27s idea of beauty was accepted--with some alterations. For one, the creator became Yahweh, creator of the universe. Secondly, though spiritual beauty might inhabit physical beauty, the reverse was not necessarily the case

Automatic validation of learning object compositions

Course construction using reusable learning objects is becoming ever more popular due to its’ efficiency. The course creator who uses this methodology may face problems due to the fact that he or she is not as intimately involved in the creation of every element of the course. In this paper we discuss one such problem faced by course creator known as “the competency gap”. Here, we define the competency gap, explain how it can be identified and suggest ways of correcting the problem

Natural law, natural philosophy, natural rights

Who or what is the creator (and how is that we can presume to read his mind and know his intentions) and how do we know there are inalienable rights? As will become clear in the pages below, the idea of the creator is a powerful concept that permeates western thought from at least the period of ancient Greeks to Jefferson\u27s day. In fact, it is the confluence of ancient pagan philosophy (here represented by Cicero)and seventeenth century science, with only a dollop of Christian thought, that combines to create the ideas so fundamental to the American civil experience

This research is a comparative study. The population in this study were all students of class X which totaled 212 students. The sample in this study was a class XB and XE, each class totaled 30 students. Data collection techniques using test instruments and questionnaires (questionnaire) using four Likert scale. Test the validity of the instrument using expert judgment and product moment formula, while the instrument reliability testing using Cronbach alpha formula. The test instrument in the research done on the subject of evaluation XC class electronic test and evaluation imposed XF grade test paper, amounted to 30 respondents are not used as a sample. The data analysis technique using the average difference test or t-test. The results showed that there is the ratio of the implementation of electronic forms evaluation system test using Wondershare quiz creator and paper test on the material word processing application on MAN 1 Yogykarta. This is shown by the value of t test was 2.071744 at 5% significance level. There is a system of evaluation of the effectiveness ratio test electronic form using Wondershare quiz creator and paper test in terms of student achievement test on the material word processing application on MAN 1 Yogyakarta. This is shown by the value of t test for evaluating the effectiveness was 3.052142 at 5% significance level and the value of achievement test for the difference was 2.240424 5% significance level. Congress to Administrative Agencies: Creator, Overseer, and Partner

Ultimately, all questions of administrative law, judicial review of agency action, and the degree of congressional oversight revolve around attempts to discover where the true congressional intent lies. All of our congressional oversight activities seek to advance an administrative agency outcome that most reflects congressional understanding of the dictates of law. In our system of government the non-legislative branches all pursue the same goal-determining and ultimately following congressional intent. The system affords each branch a great deal of leeway to pursue its own view of congressional intent, and naturally each branch seeks to assert its own perspective as much as possible. In the author\u27s opinion, from the vantage point of a congressional subcommittee chair, some views should be granted greater deference than others
