ABMS Board Certification: Improving Continuous Specialty Certification

    Get PDF
For almost 100 years, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and its 24 Member Boards have been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the process by which physicians become Board Certified and continue their certification across their careers. Continuing certification provides a framework that helps physicians keep up to date with the myriad of medical advances, to continually improve, and to objectively demonstrate their commitment to maintaining knowledge and skills to the patients, families, and communities who depend upon them. A robust and rigorous certification system is important to the profession, to individual physicians, and to patients and other members of the public who rely upon this credential for the quality it represents

Farmers’ acceptance of further strengthening of private certification systems

In their continuous quest for ecologic improvements, private voluntary certification initiatives might undermine the willingness to continue of the participating farmers. In this research, the ecologic contribution and the farmers’ acceptance of changing the pesticide policy of a private certification initiative is presented. To measure the perceived farmers’ disutility, the choice preference technique is used. We can conclude that there is room for ecologic improvements but that farmers are in general change averse, primarily because of the fear that price compensation will remain largely absent.choice preference, pesticides, certification, Crop Production/Industries, Demand and Price Analysis,

A Study of College English Curriculum under the Guidance of the Core Concepts of Professional Certification—A Case Study of Baoding University

    Get PDF
With the continuous proceeding of professional certification in colleges and universities, college English, as a compulsory course for almost all majors, is an indispensable part of the process. This paper discusses how college English should take advantage of professional certification and build a diversified curriculum system under the guidance of the three core concepts of professional certification: “student-centered”, “outcome-oriented” and “continuous improvement”, and actively carries out reforms from the aspects of curriculum objective setting, teaching objects classification, classroom teaching activity reform, quality control system building etc. It is expected to play a positive and supporting role in the professional certification of colleges and universities, and help each major to meet the standards in the normal major certification and engineering major certification

Teaching of Preschool Education in Private Universities under the Background of Professional Certification Research on Quality Control System—Take Xi’an Fan Yi University as an Example

The certification of normal school majors plays an important role in promoting the reform of college education and teaching. The teaching quality monitoring system should be optimized in accordance with the professional certification standards and follow the concept of professional certification. At present, the internal monitoring system of undergraduate teaching quality in normal education lacks the accuracy of the main teaching quality, the imbalance of quality monitoring, blind area in the monitoring process, lagging information feedback mechanism of teaching quality monitoring, and insufficient continuous improvement. Accordingly, optimization suggestions are proposed from the overall framework, objectives and system, process and evaluation, and continuous improvement: scientific planning, optimizing the overall framework of teaching quality monitoring system; require the certification standards, clarify the quality objectives and improve the monitoring system; improve the teaching quality monitoring process and evaluation; implement continuous improvement to ensure the steady improvement of teaching quality

Continuous variable entanglement swapping and its local certification: entangling distant mechanical modes

We introduce a modification of the standard entanglement swapping protocol where the generation of entanglement between two distant modes is realized and verified using only local optical measurements. We show, indeed, that a simple condition on the purity of the initial state involving also an ancillary mode is sufficient to guarantee the success of the protocol by local measurements {M. Abdi \textit{et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{109}, 143601 (2012)}]. We apply the proposed protocol to a tripartite optomechanical system where the never interacting mechanical modes become entangled and certified using only local optical measurements.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

A case study of software process assessment and certification (SPAC) model implementation

    Get PDF
This paper reports the implementation of Software Process Assessment and Certification (SPAC) model. In year 2006, the model has been validated in three software organizations for its practicality in the real world. Recently in year 2011, the SPAC model has been implemented again in one of the organizations participated in year 2006.This paper discusses the outcome from the current study and compares it with the previous study. It reveals that after five years, the level of certification decreases from LEVEL IV to LEVEL II.This is because the best practices of software development are being neglected. Thus, we conclude that continuous software certification is certainly needed in order to know the current status of soft ware development process and help the organization to plan and monitor their continuous improvement of software quality

Using ChatOps to Achieve Continuous Certification of Cloud Services

    Get PDF
Continuous service certification (CSC) recently emerged as a promising means to provide ongoing assurances and disrupt pertinent certification approaches. CSC involves the consistent gathering and assessing of certification-relevant data by certification authorities about service operation to validate ongoing adherence to certification criteria. While research on CSC is increasing, practitioners still struggle in transferring researchers' suggestions and guidelines into practice. This study provides a tentative design and a prototype of a monitoring-based service certification (MSC) system based on the novel ChatOps approach. Iterative evaluations support our propositions that ChatOps' three key elements, a chat platform, chatbots, and third-party integrations, support the achievement of CSC. We contribute to research and practice by proving the technical feasibility of an MSC system, guiding future research and practitioners on achieving monitoring-based CSC, and validate the applicability and usefulness of extant guidelines on monitoring-based CSC proposed by prior research

A Framework to Evaluate Software Developer’s Productivity The VALORTIA Project

    Get PDF
Currently, there is a lack in companies developing software in relation to assessing their staff’s productivity before executing software projects, with the aim of improving effectiveness and efficiency. QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is a framework that allows defining quality management tasks based on a model. The main purpose of this framework is twofold: improve an entity’s continuous quality, and given a context, decide between a set of entity’s instances on the most appropriate one. Thus, the aim of this paper is to make this framework available to evaluate productivity of professionals along software development and select the most appropriate experts to implement the suggested project. For this goal, Valortia platform, capable of carrying out this task by following the QuEF framework guidelines, is designed. Valortia is a platform to certify users' knowledge on a specific area and centralize all certification management in its model by means of providing protocols and methods for a suitable management, improving efficiency and effectiveness, reducing cost and ensuring continuous quality.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2013-46928-C3-3-
