Milk Chemical Composition of Dairy Cows Fed Rations Containing Protected Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Fermented Rice Bran

The research was conducted to investigate the effect of ration containing protected omega-3 and fermented rice bran on chemical composition of dairy milk. The research employed 10 female PFH dairy cows of 2-4 years old with body weight 300-375 kg. The research was assigned in randomized complete block design. The treatment consisted of P0= control ration, P1= P0 + 20% fermented rice bran, P2= P1 + 4% soya bean oil, P3= P1 + 4% protected tuna fish oil and P4= P1 + 4% protected lemuru fish oil. The results showed that the effects of fish oil supplementation in the rations significantly (P<0.01) decreased feed consumption, cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, lipids, and saturated fatty acids. Meanwhile, it increased milk production, content of high density lipoprotein, omega-3, omega-6 and unsaturated fatty acids in the dairy cows milk. It is concluded that the inclusion of 4% protected fish oil in the rations can produce healthy milk by decreasing milk cholesterol and increasing omega-3 fatty acids content

An anti-fog composition is described for the prevention of fogging on surfaces such as space helmet visors, spacecraft windows, and windshields. It is composed of a surface active agent, water, and an oil time extender

Structure and composition of the superconducting phase in alkali iron selenide Ky_yFe1.6+x_{1.6+x}Se2_2

We use neutron diffraction to study the temperature evolution of the average structure and local lattice distortions in insulating and superconducting potassium iron selenide Ky_yFe1.6+x_{1.6+x}Se2_2. In the high temperature paramagnetic state, both materials have a single phase with crystal structure similar to that of the BaFe2_2As2_2 family of iron pnictides. While the insulating Ky_yFe1.6+x_{1.6+x}Se2_2 forms a 5×5\sqrt{5}\times\sqrt{5} iron vacancy ordered block antiferromagnetic (AF) structure at low-temperature, the superconducting compounds spontaneously phase separate into an insulating part with 5×5\sqrt{5}\times\sqrt{5} iron vacancy order and a superconducting phase with chemical composition of Kz_zFe2_{2}Se2_2 and BaFe2_2As2_2 structure. Therefore, superconductivity in alkaline iron selenides arises from alkali deficient Kz_zFe2_{2}Se2_2 in the matrix of the insulating block AF phase.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure

    Regenerative Composition Structures

A new class of random composition structures (the ordered analog of Kingman's partition structures) is defined by a regenerative description of component sizes. Each regenerative composition structure is represented by a process of random sampling of points from an exponential distribution on the positive halfline, and separating the points into clusters by an independent regenerative random set. Examples are composition structures derived from residual allocation models, including one associated with the Ewens sampling formula, and composition structures derived from the zero set of a Brownian motion or Bessel process. We provide characterisation results and formulas relating the distribution of the regenerative composition to the L{\'e}vy parameters of a subordinator whose range is the corresponding regenerative set. In particular, the only reversible regenerative composition structures are those associated with the interval partition of [0,1][0,1] generated by excursions of a standard Bessel bridge of dimension 22α2 - 2 \alpha for some α[0,1]\alpha \in [0,1]
