Statistical Learning in Automated Troubleshooting: Application to LTE Interference Mitigation
This paper presents a method for automated healing as part of off-line
automated troubleshooting. The method combines statistical learning with
constraint optimization. The automated healing aims at locally optimizing radio
resource management (RRM) or system parameters of cells with poor performance
in an iterative manner. The statistical learning processes the data using
Logistic Regression (LR) to extract closed form (functional) relations between
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Radio Resource Management (RRM)
parameters. These functional relations are then processed by an optimization
engine which proposes new parameter values. The advantage of the proposed
formulation is the small number of iterations required by the automated healing
method to converge, making it suitable for off-line implementation. The
proposed method is applied to heal an Inter-Cell Interference Coordination
(ICIC) process in a 3G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network which is based on
soft-frequency reuse scheme. Numerical simulations illustrate the benefits of

The key performance indicators of the BIM implementation process
Contemporarily some firms in the construction industry are attempting to adopt a BIM method of working. Each of these attempts reflects a varying BIM adoption philosophy and inevitably different BIM technologies, implementation strategies and roadmaps. On the other hand, all these attempts are often motivated to attain competitive advantages for product delivery in the market place. The question of what the best method of adopting BIM has not been answered yet. That is to say, it is required to identify a standard method that will benchmark the different BIM adoption cases by comparing the efficiency gains in these cases: a standard benchmarking method can help the stakeholders to decide on the most appropriate strategies for themselves.

During the last years some researchers have studied the critical success factors (CSFs) in ERP implementations.
However, until now, no one has studied how these CSFs should be put in practice to help organizations achieve success
in ERP implementations. This technical research report attempts to define the usage of Goals/Questions/Metrics (GQM)
approach in the definition of a measurement system for ERP implementation projects. GQM approach is a mechanism for
defining and interpreting operational, measurable goals. Lately, because of its intuitive nature the approach has
gained widespread appeal. We present a metrics overview and a description of GQM approach. Then we provide an example
of GQM application for monitoring sustained management support in ERP implementations. Sustained management support

Narrating the real corporate story
Companies are being pressed to be more transparent in their annual reporting
and, at the same time,interest is moving from the formal accounts to the
narrative sections, partly in response to the increasing importance of the
intangible assets not on the balance sheet. The paper sets out the changes in UK
requirements, ummarised in a Framework provided by the Worshipful Company of
Marketors, and company practice. The two weakest areas in relation to the
Accounting Standards Board Reporting Standard are the provision of forward
looking information and non-financial KPIs, especially those to do with
customers, competitors and brands. The paper suggests that brand equity, the
intangible marketing asset, is the present reservoir of future cash flow.
Accordingly, provision of professional measures of brand equity should go some
way towards solving both weaknesses at the same time
Fluid flow queue models for fixed-mobile network evaluation
A methodology for fast and accurate end-to-end KPI, like throughput and delay, estimation is proposed based on the service-centric traffic flow analysis and the fluid flow queuing model named CURSA-SQ. Mobile network features, like shared medium and mobility, are considered defining the models to be taken into account such as the propagation models and the fluid flow scheduling model. The developed methodology provides accurate computation of these KPIs, while performing orders of magnitude faster than discrete event simulators like ns-3. Finally, this methodology combined to its capacity for performance estimation in MPLS networks enables its application for near real-time converged fixed-mobile networks operation as it is proven in three use case scenarios

Cell degradation detection based on an inter-cell approach
Fault management is a crucial part of cellular network management systems. The status of the base stations is usually monitored by well-defined key performance indicators (KPIs). The approaches for cell degradation detection are based on either intra-cell or inter-cell analysis of the KPIs. In intra-cell analysis, KPI profiles are built based on their local history data whereas in inter-cell analysis, KPIs of one cell are compared with the corresponding KPIs of the other cells. In this work, we argue in favor of the inter-cell approach and apply a degradation detection method that is able to detect a sleeping cell that could be difficult to observe using traditional intra-cell methods. We demonstrate its use for detecting emulated degradations among performance data recorded from a live LTE network. The method can be integrated in current systems because it can operate using existing KPIs without any major modification to the network infrastructure
Feasibility Study of Enabling V2X Communications by LTE-Uu Radio Interface
Compared with the legacy wireless networks, the next generation of wireless
network targets at different services with divergent QoS requirements, ranging
from bandwidth consuming video service to moderate and low date rate machine
type services, and supporting as well as strict latency requirements. One
emerging new service is to exploit wireless network to improve the efficiency
of vehicular traffic and public safety. However, the stringent packet
end-to-end (E2E) latency and ultra-low transmission failure rates pose
challenging requirements on the legacy networks. In other words, the next
generation wireless network needs to support ultra-reliable low latency
communications (URLLC) involving new key performance indicators (KPIs) rather
than the conventional metric, such as cell throughput in the legacy systems. In
this paper, a feasibility study on applying today's LTE network infrastructure
and LTE-Uu air interface to provide the URLLC type of services is performed,
where the communication takes place between two traffic participants (e.g.,
vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian). To carry out this study, an
evaluation methodology of the cellular vehicle-to-anything (V2X) communication
is proposed, where packet E2E latency and successful transmission rate are
considered as the key performance indicators (KPIs). Then, we describe the
simulation assumptions for the evaluation. Based on them, simulation results
are depicted that demonstrate the performance of the LTE network in fulfilling
new URLLC requirements. Moreover, sensitivity analysis is also conducted
regarding how to further improve system performance, in order to enable new
