Surgical treatment of giant cardiac aneurysm with pseudoaneurysm in a colon carcinoma patient
Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm is a rare and lethal condition associated with a high risk of rapid enlargement and rupture. It develops after transmural myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac surgery, trauma, or infection. When a left ventricular pseudoaneurysm is detected, surgical repair is recommended due to the high possibility of rupture. In this report, we present surgical treatment of a giant cardiac pseudoaneurysm that occurred after MI in a colon carcinoma patient

Historical and artistica features of wood cribs in Kazakhstan and Turkey
The kinds of cribs were differing from traditions and living conditions. Besides the widely-known wood or metal cribs, there were hand-made ones that belonged to nomads. Current study was focused on the making techniques of wood crib that are still using in Kazakhstan and it was used in ancient Anatolian. At the same time, the histories, forms and types of cribs were compared. The Anatolian area was considered to be rich in forests and wood trimming work in crib making. Cribs in Central Asia were usually made of wood. Walnut wood is used mostly in making cribs because it was cold-resistant. Anatolian was known as making wood and metal cribs. At the same time, wooden cribs in Central Asia and Anatolia were made from trees grown in the region. For example, cribs were also made from the trees like alder, beech, spruce and so on. The carving technique and decorating processes on the trees were essentials topics of this study. In observing process, the study focused on the techniques of visual samples of cribs (pictures) in Kazakhstan and Turkey, their differences and similarities were compared and contrasted

Investigation of the Effects of Inlet System Configuration on the Airflow Characteristics
The effort towards the development of an engine that is efficient and green has become one of the biggest efforts of the major part of the automotive industry. The contribution of air quality to the engine plays an important role to increase power while minimizing the exhaust emission. The main purpose of this article is to investigate the characteristic of the air intake system of a naturally aspirated engine on a steady flow bench. The experiment was conducted using an industrial flow bench apparatus where the pressure different test pressures can be set and, at every test pressure, the valve is lifted at an increment of 1mm until the maximum possible valve lift where the flow rate is obtained in terms of cubic foot per minute or CFM. The experiment process was then repeated at different configuration. The experimental result shows that the flow rate increases with each valve lift in a linear pattern until at a certain point where the value becomes constant. The result also indicated that the flow rate increases as the different pressure increases
On-line estimation of a stability metric including grip conditions and slope: Application to rollover prevention for all-terrain vehicles
International audienceRollover is the principal cause of serious accidents for All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV), especially for light vehicles (e.g.quad bikes). In order to reduce this risk, the development of active devices, contributes a promising solution. With this aim, this paper proposes an algorithm allowing to predict the rollover risk, by means of an on-line estimation of a stability criterion. Among several rollover indicators, the Lateral Load Transfer (LLT) has been chosen because its estimation needs only low cost sensing equipment compared to the price of a light ATV. An adapted backstepping observer associated to a bicycle model is first developed, allowing the estimation of the grip conditions. In addition, the lateral slope is estimated thanks to a classical Kalman filter relying on measured acceleration and roll rate. Then, an expression of the LLT is derived from a roll model taking into account the grip conditions and the slope. Finally, the LLT value is anticipated by means of a prediction algorithm. The capabilities of this system are investigated thanks to full scale experiments with a quad bike
