A Multilevel Analysis of Implicit and Explicit CSR in French and UK Professional Sport
Research question: This paper examines the ways in which French and UK professional sports clubs implement and communicate their CSR policies. In addition to identifying similarities and differences between CSR practices in the two countries, our analysis extends and adapts the implicit-explicit CSR framework to the field of sport.
Research methods: We used a mixed methods approach to analyse qualitative and quantitative data on the CSR strategies of 66 professional rugby union (Top 14, Aviva Premiership Rugby) and football (Ligue 1, Premier League) clubs over the 2017-2018 season.
Results and findings: We found major differences in CSR communication between France and the UK. Communication by French clubs tends to highlight sport’s values, involve few media channels, whereas communication by UK clubs explicitly vaunts their social responsibility and involves numerous channels. In the case of CSR implementation, there are similarities between French and UK clubs, especially in the fields their CSR initiatives cover (e.g., health, diversity), as well as differences. However, the scope of initiatives varies more between sports than between countries, with football demonstrating a more international outlook than rugby.
Implications: This article expands Matten and Moon’s (2008) implicit-explicit CSR framework by identifying the influence of interactions between sectorial/field-level factors and national/macro-level factors on CSR practices, and by distinguishing between CSR communication and CSR implementation. Our results throw light on the shift from implicit to explicit CSR in French professional sport
Corporate social responsibility in Spain: An overview
In Spain, as in many other European countries, there is a growing movement in favor of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Spanish companies consider corporate reputation, competitive advantage and industry trends to be the major driving forces of CSR. However, these factors are closely related to other cultural, social and political influences. Initiatives undertaken by the EU and international organizations have influenced companies' decision to implement CSR. Associations and forums that bring together the heads of leading corporations, business schools and other academic institutions, NGOs and the media are actively promoting CSR in Spain. Although the degree of implementation of CSR in Spain is still moderate, initiatives in this field from some of the country's most respected companies augur promising developments in CSR in the near future.corporate social responsibility; business ethics;
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DURING THE ECONOMIC CRISIS. THE CASE OF THE ROMANIAN COMPANIES
The aim of the present paper is to identify and comment on the existing relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the current economic crisis, by focusing on the experience of the Romanian companies. After briefly defining the concept of CSR, the article presents the above mentioned relationship from a triple perspective: the lack of ethics as a cause of the economic crisis, the threat of CSR in periods of crisis and the opportunity of CSR in periods of crisis, considering that the last perspective could be maximized if companies are going to approach CSR from a strategic point of view. Finally, the second part of the paper presents what Romanian companies really do, but, more important, what they should do in order to increase their effectiveness in terms of CSR implementation when social budgets seem to remain constant or even decrease.Corporate Social Responsibility, Economic Crisis, Stakeholders, Risk Management
Implementing CSR through partnerships: Understanding the selection, design and institutionalisation of nonprofit-business partnerships
Partnerships between businesses and nonprofit organisations are an increasingly prominent element of corporate social responsibility implementation. The paper is based on two in depth partnership case studies (Earthwatch-Rio Tinto and Prince’s Trust-Royal Bank of Scotland) that move beyond a simple stage model to reveal the deeper level micro-processes in the selection, design and institutionalisation of business-NGO partnerships. The suggested practice-tested model is followed by a discussion that highlights management issues within partnership implementation and a practical Partnership Test to assist managers in testing both the accountability and level of institutionalisation of the relationship in order to address any possible skill gaps. Understanding how CSR partnerships are implemented in practice contributes to the broader CSR and partnership literatures a context specific level of detail in a systematic way that allows for transferable learning in both theory and practice

Respon Investor Terhadap Implementasi CSR: Teori Legitimasi Organisasional dan Decision Usefulness
This research is aimed to seek the evidence of investors response toward CSR implementation based on legitimacy and decision usefulness theory. Enactment of Indonesian Corporation Act No. 40 in 2007 has invited a number of pros and cons. According to legitimacy theory, investors should support the implementation of CSR since it is needed to obtain legitimacy from their stakeholder as a prerequisite to continue its operation (Tilling 2006), however investors response were not always consistent with the theory. Various prior researches proved that the average, CSR was responded negatively in the short term as well as the result of studies using long-term data. Following it up the existing gap between empirical results and legitimacy theory, this study tries to add the explanation of investor response using decision usefulness arguments. According to decision usefulness approach, investors are rational, under uncertainty they tend to avoid risks with rational actions (Scott 2012). Therefore, investors response to the implementation of CSR are conditional and depend on the companies performance during the CSR implementation. This study uses quantitative approach as it aims to test the association among variables and its result can be generalized. Unit of analysis is listed companies in Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2008-2012. This research proves that investors do not response the implementation of CSR, in the absent of performance. Implementation of CSR that followed by improvement of CSR is positively responded by investor and third that company size do not influence investors response to CSR implementation.
