Partitioning Complex Networks via Size-constrained Clustering
The most commonly used method to tackle the graph partitioning problem in
practice is the multilevel approach. During a coarsening phase, a multilevel
graph partitioning algorithm reduces the graph size by iteratively contracting
nodes and edges until the graph is small enough to be partitioned by some other
algorithm. A partition of the input graph is then constructed by successively
transferring the solution to the next finer graph and applying a local search
algorithm to improve the current solution.
In this paper, we describe a novel approach to partition graphs effectively
especially if the networks have a highly irregular structure. More precisely,
our algorithm provides graph coarsening by iteratively contracting
size-constrained clusterings that are computed using a label propagation
algorithm. The same algorithm that provides the size-constrained clusterings
can also be used during uncoarsening as a fast and simple local search
algorithm.
Depending on the algorithm's configuration, we are able to compute partitions
of very high quality outperforming all competitors, or partitions that are
comparable to the best competitor in terms of quality, hMetis, while being
nearly an order of magnitude faster on average. The fastest configuration
partitions the largest graph available to us with 3.3 billion edges using a
single machine in about ten minutes while cutting less than half of the edges
than the fastest competitor, kMetis

Via Crucis of Candido Portinari: new perspectives from the Technical Art History
The purpose of this paper is to present the historical-documental research carried out on the Way of the Cross painted by Candido Portinari in 1945 for the Church of Saint Francis of Assis. Portinari’s Way of the Cross belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte and was restored in 2019 by the Center for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (CECOR) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). The aim is to associate the data collected with the materiality of the works, their state of conservation and the perception of the valorization of these assets as intrinsic elements to the artistic and architectural complex of the Church of Saint Francis of Assis. The approach suggested by Technical Art History was adopted as a methodology, pointing out the possible developments that arise from interdisciplinary research. Knowledge from several fields (Human Sciences, Natural Sciences, Conservation and Restoration) was used to approach the object in its sociocultural, artistic and material contexts. The interposition of knowledge fields thus contributed to the understanding and conservation of these assets of the Brazilian cultural heritage.O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a pesquisa histórico-documental realizada sobre as obras que compõem a Via-Sacra pintada por Candido Portinari em 1945 para a Igreja da Pampulha.

The massification and widespread of the available tools on Internet contributes togive shape and movement to the contemporary social and political life. The variety of information and communication possibilities converges in the formation of groups and movements with shared interests and identities. In this context, in the Republic of Korea, feminist groups have emerged and proliferated promoting their demands in a quickly, anonymous and simultaneous way and were nourished by the wide possibilities offered by the cyberspace. The objective of this paper is to analyze the circumstances that motivated the conformation of these feminist groups on the web, defined under the conceptual framework of cyberfeminism, its characteristics and the consequences of its actions at a cultural and political level. This information allows us to outline the possibilities of its future development. The analysis dimensions include: the member?s characteristics, the collaboration?s types, the topics of interest, the action?s modalities, and the positioning with respect to the LGBT community. We consider that cyberfeminism has gained considerably social importance in South Korea and has influenced public opinion, also affecting the establishment of public policy agenda. The methodological approach, of qualitative nature, is nourished by previous ownresearch, specialized literature, and information collected/gathered from IT tools thatprovide/allow the analysis of our object of study. This paper considers contextual variables, such as the internet expansion and the feminism history in the country, in order to analyze the structuration of the feminist movement online. The general results achieved about cyberfeminism in Korea are focus on the member's characteristic, the types of collaboration between its members, the topics of interest, the modality of action and their positioning with respect to the demands of the LGBT community in the feminist struggle. Based on the outcomes of the investigation, it concludes with recommendationson how the South Korean feminism can influence society and promote public demonstrations that can result in changes in public policies. It also reflects on the intervention of online groups and the gender dynamics on the internet, which are strongly shaped by globalization.Fil: Bavoleo, Bárbara Inés. Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Linking eco-design and modular system as an alternative transformation of the breakwater "Bac de Roda": exterior architectural renovation design
The “Bac de Roda” breakwater, a place located in Barcelona and known by the locals of Poblenou, was an iconic place for many years. But from multiple variables such as the economic, environmental, and cultural ones of the space, this became an abandoned place. So, it presents a problem of deterioration and neglect that it had for many years.
This master's thesis proposes a solution based on an investigation of history, culture, and climate, implementing two tools as basic concepts for its realization. The eco - design which considers all aspects of the product with a circular economy. The modular design which focuses on the systems implemented in the space. To give a different approach to a public space.
The realization of this work uses a circular methodology which began with a research phase in which the interaction of the place and the user is analyzed over the years. To understand the needs of this and then analyze them. From this point ideas were generated, prototypes and after trial and error, generate a final design.
The result of the project is an urban park focused on the user with multiple modular objects which adapt to the architecture as one is different from the other. The objects and the redesign of the place comply with a circular ecology in each of its steps. Concluding with a design which can be applied as an alternative to its restoration
