Engine and auxiliary systems
Preface
The development of our society is closely related to the improvements in transportation. The Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) occupies a very important position in this development. The purpose of this book “Engine and Its Auxiliary Systems” is to provide updated information on the design, construction and maintenance of the engine and its auxiliary systems.
This book does not intend to represent the full body of internal combustion engine technology, but it does provide technical presentations and their reference documents, which can lead the engineer to discussions covering several topics of interest in internal combustion engines and its auxiliary systems.
This book is a collection of a series of chapters written by the faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering Department of International Islamic University Malaysia. These chapters are the outcome of different research projects executed by the authors.
The chapters were chosen to cover a variety of topics within the area of ICE and its auxiliary systems. These chapters reflect the latest advancement in international combustion engine technology. This should enhance the utility of the book for any person engaged in the pursuit of knowledge of internal combustion engines, particularly the practicing engineers and researchers in the field.
The editor would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the authors who have contributed chapters for the book. We are also grateful to IIUM press for publishing the book
Nonisospectral integrable nonlinear equations with external potentials and their GBDT solutions
Auxiliary systems for matrix nonisospectral equations, including coupled NLS
with external potential and KdV with variable coefficients, were introduced.
Explicit solutions of nonisospectral equations were constructed using the GBDT
version of the B\"acklund-Darboux transformation
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) sounding-rocket program
An overall introduction to the NASA sounding rocket program as managed by the Goddard Space Flight Center is presented. The various sounding rockets, auxiliary systems (telemetry, guidance, etc.), launch sites, and services which NASA can provide are briefly described
Probabilistic cloning with supplementary information contained in the quantum states of two auxiliary systems
In probabilistic cloning with two auxiliary systems, we consider and compare
three different protocols for the success probabilities of cloning. We show
that, in certain circumstances, it may increase the success probability to add
an auxiliary system to the probabilistic cloning machine having one auxiliary
system, but we always can find another cloning machine with one auxiliary
system having the same success probability as that with two auxiliary systems.Comment: 18 page
NASA Lewis 8 by 6 foot supersonic wind tunnel
Performance data are presented for the tunnel, which has a Mach number range from 0.36 to 2.0. The tunnel circuit, test section, model support systems, auxiliary systems, instrumentation, control room equipment, and automatic recording and computing equipment are also described. Information is presented on criteria for designing models and on shop facilities available to prospective users
Nonprobabilistic teleportation of field state via cavity QED
In this article we discuss a teleportation scheme of coherent states of
cavity field. The experimental realization proposed makes use of cavity quatum
electrodynamics involving the interaction of Rydberg atoms with micromaser and
Ramsey cavities. In our scheme the Ramsey cavities and the atoms play the role
of auxiliary systems used to teleport the state from a micromaser cavity to
another. We show that, even if the correct atomic detection fails in the first
trials, one can succeed in teleportating the cavity field state if the proper
measurement occurs in a later atom
Navy Auxiliary Systems Defense Industrial Base Analysis
Symposium Student PosterThe Defense Industrial Base (DIB) is an ever changing landscape that requires acquisition professionals to maintain vigilance over its climate. Ever since the mid-1990s the DIB has shrunk substantially due to a variety of reasons. In this study we focus on Navy Auxiliary Systems, particularly Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC&R) and Compressed Air system. Data gained through analysis of contracting history and from subject matter experts (SMEs) and In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs) is used to perform a Sector by Sector, Tier by Tier (S2T2) Fragility and Criticality (FaC) Assessment of AC&R and Compressed Air systems. The assessment revealed that both AC&R and Compressed Air systems are on relatively secure footing. With both systems it is important to avoid vendor lock with an aim to increase competition to optimize cost, schedule, and performance on future capabilities.Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited
Teleportation of Atomic States via Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics
In this article we discuss a scheme of teleportation of atomic states. The
experimental realization proposed makes use of cavity Quatum Electrodynamics
involving the interaction of Rydberg atoms with a micromaser cavity prepared in
a coherent state. We start presenting a scheme to prepare atomic Bell states
via the interaction of atoms with a cavity. In our scheme the cavity and some
atoms play the role of auxiliary systems used to achieve the teleportation.Comment: 12 pages and 2 figures. Accepted for publication in Opt. Comm.,
