What does augmented reality mean as a medium of expression for computational artists?
As augmented reality (AR) quickly evolves with new technological practice, there is a growing need to question and reevaluate its potential as a medium for creative expression. The authors discuss AR within computational art, framed within AR as a medium, AR aesthetics and applications. The Forum for Augmented Reality Immersive Instruments (ARImI), a two-day event on AR, highlights both possibilities and fundamental concerns for continuing artworks in this field, including visual bias, sensory modalities, interactivity and performativity. The Legal Approach to Crime and Correction
This report documents the research and experiments on evaluating the possibilities of using OpenCV for developing a markerless augmented reality applications using the structure from motion algorithm. It gives a background on what augmented reality is and how it can be used and also theory about camera calibration and the structure from motion algorithm is presented. Based on the theory the algorithm was implemented using OpenCV and evaluated regarding its performance and possibilities when creating markerless augmented reality applications
Immercity: a curation content application in Virtual and Augmented reality
When working with emergent and appealing technologies as Virtual Reality,
Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality, the issue of definitions appear very
often. Indeed, our experience with various publics allows us to notice that
technology definitions pose ambiguity and representation problems for informed
as well as novice users. In this paper we present Immercity, a content curation
system designed in the context of a collaboration between the University of
Montpellier and CapGemi-ni, to deliver a technology watch. It is also used as a
testbed for our experiences with Virtual, Mixed and Augmented reality to
explore new interaction techniques and devices, artificial intelligence
integration, visual affordances, performance , etc. But another, very
interesting goal appeared: use Immercity to communicate about Virtual, Mixed
and Augmented Reality by using them as a support

Demo Abstract: Augmenting Reality with IP-based Sensor Networks
We demonstrate low-power IP-based sensor networks by showing a system that interacts with the sensor network using a RESTful web service interface. The sensor data is displayed with overlaid 3D graphics on top of a live camera feed, so-called augmented reality. The augmented reality application is built with off-the-shelf components with no sensor network-specific code. The IP-based sensor network runs the Contiki operating system
