Abstract—In this paper, we put forth five observations regarding the implementation of feature concern using contemporary modularity mechanisms. Based on these observations, we propose a concern-centric approach for the assessment of feature modularity that uses syntactic and semantic reduction functions that separate the feature concern from variants containing it.
