Claims for manuka honey activity
Whilst standards have been established to define whether or not a honey can be called manuka, little progress has been made with establishing a standard for describing the antibacterial activity of manuka honey. In New Zealand and in other countries there are laws that protect consumers from being misled, and laws to protect traders from unfair competition. Anyone making a claim for honey having a particular level of antibacterial activity when selling it needs to take care that they are not falling foul of these laws. This article has been written to ensure that false claims are not made unknowingly
Bioactive fabrics are described. These offer the following types of behaviour: anti-bacterial, antimicrobial, anti-mould and anti-dust mite. These are products that satisfy the growing demands of the public sector’s household needs in a more permanent way than ever before. Mention is also given to so-called healthy fabrics that actually have a positive effect – not just protection – on our health, or that produce pleasurable sensations that are also healthy.
IMPLEMENTASI PEMBELAJARAN BLENDED LEARNING BERBASIS APLIKASI WHATSAPP KELAS 5 SDN GEDANGAN 7 KABUPATEN MALANG
This blended learning model is a model that combines teaching models, ways of presenting material, learning styles and media used for support. This model is done by combining face-to-face learning and online learning. Blended learning is considered as a refinement of the e-learning method that specializes learners to conduct a full learning process with an online system. Therefore, blended learning is considered to be more effective and does not make learners feel bored because they still have the opportunity to communicate two-way directly.
Blended learning model is a learning model that is implemented by using two methods at once. This learning model usually uses a learning model system that combines technology both online and offline. Blended learning is interpreted as a model that combines learning by using a learning media, but it also combines theories, methods and dimensions of teaching.
Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the blended learning model is a learning model that in its application combines two methods, which can be done face-to-face in class or online while still paying attention to the learning objectives to be achieved
Honey anti-inflammatory factor identified
Four different brands of honey wound dressings are now on sale internationally as registered medical devices, all made from manuka honey because of its well-established reputation as an antibacterial agent. What is not so well known is that manuka honey also has a potent anti-inflammatory activity, and that this is very important in the treatment of wounds

Perbedaan Pasta Gigi dengan dan Tanpa Tambahan Ekstrak Etanol Daun Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa Bilimbi L.) Konsentrasi 10,5% Terhadap Hambatan Pertumbuhan Streptococcus Mutans
Streptococcus mutans is known as the main bacteria causes dental caries. Dental
caries can be avoided by applying toothpaste contains antibacteria and this antibacteria ability can be enhanced by adding herbal materials with 10,5% consentration of ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf (Averrhoa bilimbi L.). The aims of study were to know the difference between toothpaste with and without additional ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf on growth inhibition of Streptococcus mutans and to examine ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf to increase antibacteria ability of toothpaste to inhibit Streptococcus mutans.
The true experimental laboratory with postest only control group design was performed in this study. The experimental was devided into three groups included toothpaste with and without ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf and aquabidest used as negative control. Diffusion prosedure was delivered to know the inhibitory zone. The result, toothpaste without ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf had clear zone stronger than toothpaste with ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf and negative control was p=0,000, meanwhile toothpaste with ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf could not increase antibacterial ability of toothpaste to inhibit Streptococcus mutans was p=0,000.
In conclusion, toothpaste with and without ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf had
potensial to inhibit Streptococcus mutans but ethanol extract of bilimbi leaf could not increase antibacterial ability of toothpaste to inhibit Streptococcus mutans
A case of rhinoscleroma treated with ciprofloxacin
Respiratory scleroma (often termed \'rhinoscleroma\') is a chronic inflammatory condition in which deforming masses of tissue distend the nasal cavity. Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis is the causative agent of this infection and the Mikulicz cell is specific to the lesion being a large macrophage with clear cytoplasm containing the bacilli. Antibiotic therapy has traditionally consisted of streptomycin and tetracycline long-term but this presents problems with adverse side-effects and poor patient compliance. We report on a young patient with nasal rhinoscleroma who achieved resolution after treatment with oral ciprofloxacin. As mentioned in a review of patients with rhinoscleroma at the Mayo clinic in 1993, the fluoroquinolones deserve further study as potentially highly effective agents for this condition. Ciprofloxacin is convenient for oral administration and has few adverse effects. It achieves good tissue penetration, is concentrated in macrophages and may prove to be useful in the therapy of rhinoscleroma
Pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Kersen Terhadap Daya Tetas Dan Mortalitas Telur Itik Hibrida
Duck was one of animal protein resources which still has a low hatchability rate. There were Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella sp.bacteria on hatch egg that can influence mortality of embryos. The objective of the research was to investigate the potential of Muntingia calabura leaf extract as natural antibacteria on the hatchability and embryos mortality of duck's egg. The research method was field experiment by completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications: P0 (without treatment), A0 (chemical antibacteria), P1(10% of Muntingia calabura leaf extract), P2 (20% of Muntingia calabura leaf extract) and P3 (30% of Muntingia calabura leaf extract). These research used four hundred eggs and semi automatical machine for 28 days. Data were analyzed using one–way Anova. The results showed that Muntingia calabura leaf extract has a very significant effect (P<0,01) on hatchability and embryos mortality. The best treatment was found on 20% of Muntingiacalabura leaf extract which increased 12,01% ofhatchability and decreased 43,42% of mortality rate
Volatility Modelling Using Hybrid Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (ARCH) - Support Vector Regression (SVR)
High fluctuations in stock returns is one problem that is considered by the investors. Therefore we need a model that is able to predict accurately the volatility of stock returns. One model that can be used is a model Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (ARCH). This model can serve as a model input in the Support Vector Regression (SVR) model, known as Hybrid ARCH-SVR. This modeling is one of the alternatives in modeling the volatility of stock returns. This method is able to show a good performance in modeling the volatility of stock returns. The purpose of this study was to determine the stock return volatility models using a Hybrid ARCH-SVR model on stock price data of PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk. The result shows that the determination of the input variables based on the ARIMA (3,0,3)-ARCH (5), so that the SVR model consists of 5 lags as input vector. Using a this model was obtained that the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 1,98% and R2 = 99.99%.
