IAC user manual
The User Manual for the Integrated Analysis Capability (IAC) Level 1 system is presented. The IAC system currently supports the thermal, structures, controls and system dynamics technologies, and its development is influenced by the requirements for design/analysis of large space systems. The system has many features which make it applicable to general problems in engineering, and to management of data and software. Information includes basic IAC operation, executive commands, modules, solution paths, data organization and storage, IAC utilities, and module implementation
Bonus Pools, Limited Liability, and Tournaments
Tournaments have been objected as resulting from ad hoc restrictions to the contracting problem which are not easily justified. Taking into account that a performance measure might not be verifiable to a third party, however, a restriction to payments which sum up to a constant may be reasonable. The paper analyzes such fixed payment schemes with regard to their optimality and the relation to the special case of tournaments. It emerges that for a group of identical risk-neutral agents, the optimal fixed payment scheme is a tournament
A group learning management method for intelligent tutoring systems
In this paper we propose a group management specification and execution method that seeks a compromise between simple course design and complex adaptive group interaction. This is achieved through an authoring method that proposes predefined scenarios to the author. These scenarios already include complex learning interaction protocols in which student and group models use and update are automatically included. The method adopts ontologies to represent domain and student models, and object Petri nets to specify the group interaction protocols. During execution, the method is supported by a multi-agent architecture
Višestruko poravnavanje i HMM
Multiple sequence alignment is an important object in bioinformatics for obtaining information about protein families. In this thesis we show how to build a multiple sequence alignment using hidden Markov models. We have observed that the results are very sensitive to the choice of various parameters and sample biased. Analysis carried out consists of model estimation from given alignment, simulation and realigning. Distribution of scores is approximately Gumbel, as expected. Since parametrisation of a family profile is a very sensitive procedure, we gradually build a model using less variable subsamples. This method provides a good solution to avoid some of the obstacles we encountered
Optimization of Patterned Surfaces for Improved Superhydrophobicity Through Cost-Effective Large-Scale Computations
The growing need for creating surfaces with specific wetting properties, such
as superhyrdophobic behavior, asks for novel methods for their efficient
design. In this work, a fast computational method for the evaluation of
patterned superhyrdophobic surfaces is introduced. The hydrophobicity of a
surface is quantified in energy terms through an objective function. The
increased computational cost led to the parallelization of the method with the
Message Passing Interface (MPI) communication protocol that enables
calculations on distributed memory systems allowing for parametric
investigations at acceptable time frames. The method is demonstrated for a
surface consisting of an array of pillars with inverted conical (frustum)
geometry. The parallel speedup achieved allows for low cost parametric
investigations on the effect of the fine features (curvature and slopes) of the
pillars on the superhydophobicity of the surface and consequently for the
optimization of superhyrdophobic surfaces.Comment: 18 pages, 18 figure
Phases of a model developing applicable for financial risk management of companies
A successful company is one which is able to manage its risks. All types of financial risk can successfully be managed by an algorithmic system approach and by a risk management model carefully developed for the specific needs of the company. The main focus is mainly on financial risk in this study and a risk management model has been developed to manage and effectively control of financial risk. There is no doubt that this risk must have been managed to control volatility and to provide financial consistency on the companies’ financials. The main definition of risk management in this study has been made as to measure the sensitivity of the financial structure of the company, against the fluctuations of market variables such as interest rates, devaluation, inflation and cross rates; to definition and calculation of company’s devaluation, interest rate and liquidity risks carried on the financial structure; to hedge the financial risks by using the most available and perfect matching risk management derivative products and methodologies, to monitor the volatility of market variables (parameters) and their impact on the financial structure and to develop models and algorithms those will deal with the underlined functions. In this study, a model design which is parallel to this definition has been made, and the model has been developed from its theoretical base through the practical usage
Ortalama-varyans portföy optimizasyonunda genetik algoritma uygulamaları üzerine bir literatür araştırması
Mean-variance portfolio optimization model, introduced by Markowitz, provides a fundamental answer to the problem of portfolio management. This model seeks an efficient frontier with the best trade-offs between two conflicting objectives of maximizing return and minimizing risk. The problem of determining an efficient frontier is known to be NP-hard. Due to the complexity of the problem, genetic algorithms have been widely employed by a growing number of researchers to solve this problem. In this study, a literature review of genetic algorithms implementations on mean-variance portfolio optimization is examined from the recent published literature. Main specifications of the problems studied and the specifications of suggested genetic algorithms have been summarized
