A novel encoding-decoding scheme using Huffman coding for multimedia networks

    No full text
Because of the phenomenal increase in online data sharing and transmission in the multimedia networks, data compression and security are under the limelight. This work proposes a new encoding scheme using Huffman coding for the encryption of data transmitted through a multimedia network. The proposed technique manipulates the Huffman coded compressed data without changing its compression ratio. The encoding is performed by a mutation process which in short generates multiple Huffman tree mutations by swapping the branches of the original Huffman tree, i.e., 0 to 1 & 1 to 0, using a checklist-rotation approach. Further, the decoding process is also explained briefly followed by validation of the proposed scheme by encrypting, decrypting and reconstructing different images
